It has come to my attention that a surprisingly large number of female friends I have known since my and their late teens, who have been slim for ages, are suddenly becoming considerably larger right around hitting 30 years old.
The ones in questions have not had kids, so its nothing to do with that, and it doesn't even look like they are just getting fatter, they are actually becoming chunkier by way of body-shape. Legs (which usually stay whatever size they are unless you hit hippo size) that once were slim are now chunky and more muscular looking.
These were petite women (under 5'5", size 6-8) who over just the past few years started to hit 12-14 dress size. None of them have ever been in to exercising or sport.
Is there a biological cause for this, and I don't mean just 'getting old' as my gf has been a 8-10 all her adult life.
