*****WIN A NVIDIA 3D VISION KIT*****

so.. wait.. wait someone spell this out to me slowly.. lol is the winner going to have to prove at anypoint they have bought a card in said time period? it just seems odd to brind a time perios into it if it can be ignored?

one of you're eyes dodgy or somthing?
Both, but one more than the other. I'll stick with the 27 inch screen then. :)

I will need a new card at some point, so I was tempted, but if it isn't going to work then I can keep my pennies until I do the new build later this year.

Hmm, I didn't notice my shop and forum account wasn't linked until after I placed an order yesterday (complete coincidence that the prize draw opened the same day, heh!) Does this mean I'm not entered? :(

they use polarising glasses iirc. so sounds like it wouldn't work :(

im pretty certain they're nothing to do with polarisation, they're just LCD flicker glasses. One closes the other opens, making you see a different image with each eye, hense the need for a 120Hz monitor.

LCD use polarised glass/plastic to flick to black :p

it's not going to be hard to prove is it. OCuk keeps a record of when things were purchased and you can link your forum account to the shop account.

Love to see what they look like. I had a set back in the days of geforce 3 and with some of the games taht where designed for them, they where brilliant.

and yep shutter glasses, one lens turns black, meaning you see every other frame with aht eye. hence you need high refresh rate. 120hrz would give you 60fhrz with these.

I've got a set of those and a GeForce 3. They stayed in the box as I assumed they wouldn't work. It's a lot of faff to swap over and I doubt they'd work with a (60Hz) TFT anyway.

It is still cofusing if you have to buy the card or not
How is it confusing? It clearly states there is no purchase needed and offers an alternative route of entry (sending a SAE)

I'm not certain but it would appear to me that http://www.shoosmiths.co.uk/news/1148.asp is not relevant because there is no competition, and it is in fact still a lottery, made legal by the no purchase necessary option.

If only I was richer! Im looking for a new card had have always used Nvidia, but recently its impossible to ignore the cracking deals on ati cards!! Will be going for a 4890 soon enough which would make winning this pointless anyway (ignoring the quality monitor/money i'd get off ebay :p )

I'd enter if it weren't for the fact i've read that

a) the monitor is rubbish with bad viewing angles
b) 3D vision kills performance, so you need either a GTX295 or to run everything at medium with no AA/AF

waste of time at the moment I think
