Win7 - Memory size and usage

I have 3 GB installed but for some reason Win & sees the 3 but brackets only 2Gb can be used. Any one else experienced this and is it fixable?

Are you running 32bit or 64bit? 32bit has memory limitations that are tied to the sum of both your system memory and graphics memory iirc.

what graphics card do you have.?

I am running 64 bit. The 1 gig it does not use but see's are 512MB each diff manufactures.
The 2gig are DC corsair kit. It PC recognises it in post but not OS
Graphics a GB 6600 GT

Could be a motherboard limitation. Have you had it working with earlier versions of Windows?

Yes, vista ultimate saw it no problems. I think one of the slots might be knackered. if I put one module in the b2 slot system will not post but if I swap them over its fine!!! but still not usable though.

What does BIOS and CPUz say? Does it recognise the 3GB?

when it post's what does the screen say, if it scrolls to fast press pause on the keyboard.

I bought another dual channel kit and exact samr problem, actuallu this time the extra gig is not recognised. I think its a MOBO issue.
