Wind up surely?

Whats with the sudden rush of everyone wanting one? :p

I've wanted one forever and a half, now I have some possible money coming in which would allow me to pay off the Civic finance, sell, and buy an MR2, whilst pocketing 3 grand.

Have to admit, after all the stories I am worried about the power with people saying they spin out or lose traction quite easily. I have some experience in my gf's 1.8 MGF, but I know its not in the same league..

Those people either have no understanding on MR cars or just drive like idiots.

Mike what year was the rev3 import produced?

This J reg one here is listed as 241bhp.

You watch there will be a massive rush for them now and when I go to get one the insurance will be £5000!:D

Well thats something then, I drive her car harder than her (But who doesn't!) and feel i'm pretty capable, and not an idiot who's going to push things too hard, obviously it'd be a totally different style to a 108hp FWD Civic.

From the other posts yesterday, might be worth looking for a Rev 4/5 GT which will have the better suspension setup, ABS, PAS and Aircon? (Yes, i'm a numpty for creature comforts :p)

J Reg will be a rev2 so wont be 241. Rev3 I think started in Dec 93.

Some Rev3s will also have all of the above :)

You'll be lucky finding a decent rev5 Turbo (i.e. not overpriced) since the import laws are a bit funny with them and they are still quite rare over here.

Is Lord Mike's a rev 3 with all the toys in too?

Mine is a Rev3 but as its a GT-S it doesnt have everything a GT has. Mine doesnt have ABS or elec folding mirrors. These were optional so some have them some dont.
So basically if it has A/C it is highly likely it will be 240bhp?
No all Turbos had aircon/climate control, my 1989 Rev1 had aircon.

I'd love one. :)

But my insurance company wouldn't love me :(

And I'd probably kill myself...along with several fuzzy kittens :(

Ah well :)

I'm loving that the top two threads in Motors is about MR2s :D

The biggest give away of an MR2s revision are the cosmetic differences, although even this can be changed. Anything M-Reg and above (with a turbo) will definitely be a rev3 with ~ 240bhp.

OK, here goes!

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/309953.htm - Not bad, liking the grey/black 2 tone - I think.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/342109.htm - Looks an ok example? But not keen on red, definitely going to try for blue, black, or white.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/322359.htm - very appealing

Anyt thoughts on them, MR2 experts? :D

Only one is a Turbo

Top one is a UK Rev5 in Sonic Shadow 168bhp
2nd is a top spec Rev3 Turbo 241bhp
3rd is a UK Rev2 154bhp

Yep, i know not all were Turbos there, was testing the water to see what looks like a good example/mileage.

Seems to be a massive rarity of local rev 3 + Turbos here

What would be classed as a recommended mileage on MR2's?
