Window Tints

Not turning anything around lol, Are you saying having ling longs on a fwd car like your own or OP's corsa would be undriveable? And yes, it came across that you have little driving ability as you seem to rely on tyres far too much.

It would be driveable, not that i'd want to drive it. Less grip means more understeer, longer braking distances and more chance of skidding.

I find it irritating that you comment on my driving ability because I want good tires in case in need I need extra grip. But I suppose all the people with good tires buy them to compensate for driving ability and all the people driving on ling longs are super awesome sweedish rally champions and they don't need the grip because they are so awesome.

heh. I don't like the car, and I've told Tupac, but insulting him on a message board = lol:(

Re: budget tyres, speak to Lopez:p

Good point, why arent F1 and touring cars rolling on remoulds? :D

iaind - cheap tyres = less grip = less rolling resistance = more mpg = ??? = profit

That is all.

I suspect you have quite badly missed the point.

Even if that were actually true, would you actually put 0.05mpg extra above your ability to stop when a child runs out in front of you?

This thread, and recent ones like it has given me an idea for an OcUK "get out of their way" drivers register. We can put together a list of these drivers, their locations and descriptions of the car so we can avoid them if we see them on the road :D

Really. Low rolling resistance tires for cars like the Polo Bluemotion deform less and give better mpg. For all you know all the mega budget tires could deform like a proper mofo and actually give less mpg.

Have you heard that Brawn GP are in talks with Nankang tires in light of the budget restrictions for next reason :p

o, so having the latest set of miche's or conti's classes you as 'safe'.

Suprised to know how many people in this thread have had a crash. Whether they can back their big mouths up.

Me- 2 years experience, drive daily, - none.

I've never had a collision in my two years on the road. Only damage i've incured is when my car was stationary and a Toyota Landcruiser used my rear quarter to help guide themselves in to a parking spot.

Out of interest what tires do you have on your car?

Im not even going to go into what I have, because the argument is not me > you, rather the excessive hatred (imo) towards budget tyres especially on relatively lower powered cars.

You won't go into it because you probably have decent tires and actually never driven a car with no-name tires invalidating your arguement because you haven't experienced the truck loads of epic fail delivered by no names.

The hatred is not excessive, no name tires suck balls.

No, nobody said or implied that good tires make you a safe driver. The point, again (because you missed it the first 429 times it was made) is that cheap tires lower make a vehicle less safe.

I've had 7 years of driving experience and still consider myself relatively inexperienced. You're VERY inexperienced so youre not really in a position to consider yourself a safe driver because you've been fortunate enough not to crash

Quite a blanket judgement your making there without really knowing anything apart from the number of years I have been driving for.

Anyway, im outta this thread, because its turning into personal attacks rather than sticking to the argument.

Had some other wheels on the mini with some good tyres on rather than the ditchfinders I have at present, makes a massive massive difference.

In the wet I have to be beyond careful, the front wheels just lose grip and slip, it's mental. In the dry you can still spin the wheels in both first and second without much trouble....

Changing them next week when we do a stripdown of everything. Very much looking foward to the back of them.

And what exactly is wrong with ling long tyres? I believe they conform to regulations and are fit for purpose...He might not drive like a ****, so wont need high performances tyres to help him stay alive...

You should read a recent Autocar investigation into cheap tyres which found the 'regulations' they conform to are as good as useless and these tyres significantly affect safety.

budget tyres especially on relatively lower powered cars.

Makes no odds, if your doing 30 in an M5 or some tatty Diesel Corsa, having crap tyres is going to drasticaly reduce your ability to stop.

For the near enough nil affect it has on MPG the only thing you loose is £10-£Whatever on the initial cost of the tyre (assuming a budget tyre lasts as long as a decent one, which in many cases it will not). Which is a small price to pay.

I mean if you where doing 35 in a 30, hit a kid, killed him. Do you want time behind bars for dangerous driving? Because they will throw the book at you rolling around in a car like that. Not to mention having to live with yourself there after.

And no matter how experienced or otherwise you think you are, you cannot foresee someone running out into the road in front of you, and don't try to claim otherwise.

But hay, what do any of us know?

Never tried ling longs in paticular, but have tryed budget/premium/mid-range given with new cars etc, and tbh, I have not noticed much difference on public roads.

Then you quite clearly don't know what you're talking about as evidence has show.
I reguarly get hire cars with WangLi's and even on a straight road I can feel it float on the road as it has so little traction compared to tyres the manufacturer fits - because if they were fine then don't you think budget cars from Korea would use budget tyres...?

Just today whilst doing 73mph on the inside lane of the A38 a woman launched from a fuel station into my lane and me slamming on and swerving allowed me to miss her. If I'd of had a Vectra with wang li's - I'd of hit her.

I think this speaks for itself:

Autocar Tyre Test said:
Shod with the Linglongs, the VW Golf Autocar used for its tests was still doing 27.8mph at the point where it had stopped on the Continentals.
