Windows 10 - data corruption issues

On the crucial M4 there was a firmware issue that made the disk disappear from the machine after 1 hour of usage. This was corrected by crucial with an updated firmware. I am not aware with any issues with the Samsung Evo's firmware apart from...

- Incompatibility with the SB raid controller on AM3 boards, particularly those with the 950 chipset. The 840 Evo's work with the controller but the 950's don't. I reported this to both Samsung and Asus when testing the 950's in AMD raid configurations.
- Reports of performance degradation over time. Most people fix this with Samsung magician.
 
Did you clean install windows 10 or upgrade? Right click on start and run command prompt as admin and type sfc /scan now then hit enter. You should be using a gpt partition anyway seeings as how you have a uefi motherboard.,
 
I had fresh clean install of Windows 10 Pro in MBR scheme . I want to know what caused this.

Disk was formatted due to MBR partition.

My disk is Samsung Evo 250 GB , and 2x8gb Kingston Hyperx 1600mhz.

Smart on disk is fine, GOOD status in Samsung MAgician and no errors in HD TUNE. Memtest86 not showing errors.

The issue with taking the approach that you have is that it is now almost impossible to troubleshoot because you have formatted. Had you have tried to repair the corruption you could then have started looking in system logs and running diagnostic tools to try and pin down the problem. If it was indeed a software problem then it may not pop up again and you are good to go.

If it was a hardware issue then it will likely happen again. If it does then you need to start looking at your hardware configuration starting with the memory, I know my old ram used to need more voltage than stock if I was running memory in all 4 slots. There are tons of other configuration issues that can cause corruption including voltage drops if you have a bad power supply. Either way if you get to this point its time to start swapping out hardware starting with things like sata cables.

You said about memory. So it can be caused by memory not neccesary sdd?
 
Because of the way Windows systems fill their registry with crap over time, it's quite possible to corrupt a registry, repair the system, have it look like it's all working fine, and then find constant niggles and problems. Nothing looks broken in the hardware, all utils say the OS is OK, but really things are screwed up at a fundamental and subtle level, and only a reformat and reinstall will fix things.

It's like a corrupted database that you've repaired so it all cheksums as correct, but the data in the database is wrong and corrupted. If your database is the core of your OS telling it how to run everything and access every device, then anything can happen.

If you've been running the same OS for years, moving it from one device to another, using clean-up tools to fix things in the event of OS/disk error, etc then these problems can sneak in, and at some point nothing beyond a clean reinstall will fix things.

If you've ever had cause to hard or soft reset a machine, you could have corrupted the filesystem and therefore OS without any hardware failure beyond the initial crash. Once you start fixing it with cleanup tools and other messing about to get your system sorted, things can go wrong.

So your machine can crash, corrupt the filesystem, the OS sits on the filesystem, and key parts of the OS (like the registry) do not do well when corrupted.

I once managed to boot a RAID system using the ACHI drivers instead. The BIOS upgrade I was doing reset the boot devices to ACHI. The first thing the OS did was try to fix the filsystem, and a big mess ensued. Sure, I managed to patch it up and get it working, but it did some pretty weird things (eg DVD drive identified as CD drive but no permissions to access it), until the OS was wiped and reinstalled. At some point, key parts of the OS can get badly scrambled and only a re-install will fix it.

So maybe it is something with my SSD if it get corrupted on MBR partition and needs refreshing? Like i said on GPT partition all is fine.

That is correct, but GPT is related to the disk format/filesystem. In your own quote, it says "partitioning and boot data", which is nothing to do with the OS or the files on your disk. GPT is more robust so you should not end up with a corrupted boot sector and then you can't boot your system (because GPT keeps backup copies of the boot info).

The OS sits on top of that, so it's quite possible to corrupt the data inside the OS, and still have a perfectly working GPT disk. The disk is fine, the files are fine and have been checksummed, but the data inside the files has been corrupted.

If the file is a JPG, you might have image corruption when you try to show the picture. If the file is the registry, then you will have system problems, because the info needed to run the OS is corrupt.

GPT/MBR are nothing much to do with the OS functions, and are all about booting up the disk and handing over to the OS.
 
So if system get corrupted on MBR it is something with my ssd? But on GPT all is fine and no issues .

After every corruption, did you repair the OS or did you reformat and install everything from scratch?

There's no reason for MBR to be constantly corrupting itself any more than GPT unless you have some deeper problem where GPT is recovering from constant boot corruption where MBR can't. GPT may be hiding the issue, but it's not gone away.

Or it's possible that you ran repairs on the OS that didn't fix things, or restored from backups that included the same OS corruption.

There's no inherent reason why GPT works over MBR, and there are many Win 10 systems still running on MBR. There's nothing inherently faulty with MBR, just GPT is better.
 
I reformat and install again clean Windows 10 this time using GPT parition. And all is fine no problems. But i want to know only , if ssd cause that issue before format or not.

Task manager and event viewer was not responding and some of the applications was not responding too. I was clicking and nothing happening.
And last issue.

Also last question to you . Somebody said to me :" I think it was the clean install of Windows 10 that solved your problem, not switching from MBR to GPT.

SMART is not perfect. There's plenty of stories of HDDs sounding like jackhammers while SMART reported all was well."


What you think there can be some issue of my ssd or its fine?
