Windows 10 Uninstalling Apps Without Permission

Anyone else getting this ?

My OS has uninstalled Garmin Express and the drivers to my old Canon Scanner ! It never asked, and I only ffind out when they stop working.
Reinstalled the drivers for the scanner and it works fine again, but I am completely unable to reinstall Garmin Express. A quick Google seems I'm not alone.

If this is true I will have to consider reverting to 8.1.

I have no idea how so many people consider the amount of automation in Windows 10 is acceptable or are unconcerned by it (until it affects them). Even if there is an incompatibility (and most of the automatic uninstalls are due to compatibility or malware detection) it should be prompting users first not just removing the software then notifying them (if you happen to notice it) that it has been removed.
 
When did that come out ? November or December ?
I took the update a few weeks after release as there were a few teething issues as I recall.

If that's the case then take yourself off the insider builds. It wont stop it happening but it'll stop you downloading and installing new builds until they are properly released.

insider preview builds come with these issues and worse. Not worth running unless you really want to be on the bleeding edge.
 
Plenty of people getting these kind of issues that aren't on insider/fast ring - though not being on it does make it less likely to happen.
 
im running Windows 10 and the garmin software without any issues.

i updated my maps a few days ago but i did a clean install of W10 and then installed my software after and had no issues

if you need a upgrade from a previous OS W10 will remove any software that's not compatible automatically

People that tell you stop complaining or spin arguments for their own justifications or pettiness to tell you that you are afraid of change? As if you are some relic. You know how we live in an open minded community. Rational and all that. ;)
 
^^ Funny thing is I get quite a bit of accusations of being afraid of change - I'm probably running more builds of Windows 10 than most of them :S I even have a Windows 10 tablet - though if it wasn't for the fact I got it dirt cheap through work it would have gone back by now the number of times I've ended up turning to my older Windows 8 tablet.

I like to stay ahead of change and not just settle for poor execution when Windows 10 could be so much better as an OS.

I just booted up a VM still on 14251 to update it - and about 10 seconds after loading up got an error message about banned app list and a load of stuff is missing that was there when I shut it down last :S (this is on the insider ring) so nothing would surprise me with Windows 10.

ignore all that, its nonsense. i had one program removed once, i cant for the life of me remember what it was but yes as per everybody else i had no prior warning. Microsoft really need to address this.
