Windows 11 subsystem for Android arrives on beta preview

just got to very end and got powershell error grrrr!
Rejecting a request to register from AppxBundleManifest.xml because the manifest is not in the package root.
obviously it is there
possibly because i already had subsystem for android installed?

Possibly, he didnt mention till halfway through the video that if you already have it, uninstall it first, also you need to change your region to the USA, I had to start again, but easier the 2nd time round.

Much better than the Amazon app store and if you install Google play games from the store, it will pick up on your progress in all the games you played on your phone, so you dont have to start them all again.

Yeah already did the USA bit
Typical it errors on the very last step
Not the first
Guess will uninstall and give it one more try
Though betting by now someone has a slightly
Easier way of doing it
But will persevere anyway

i take that back lol
restarted the pc and now subsystem for android doesnt work
virtualisation error
even though it worked before restarting
so obviously i had virtualisation enabled

Edit
Very peculiar restarting pc turned off virtualization
In the bios
Working again now

Google Play Store working well here, good to get a couple of apps which are usually tied to mobile on the desktop, cool how the android apps appear in the "programs and features" to uninstall like any other app.

Sideloading apps work via ADB if you are used to that its a breeze, will they incorporate the .apk extension into windows just right clicking to install in the final version when its all out of Beta, or is ADB sideloading as good as its going to get in the polished final ?

Not heard anything about Microsoft officially incorporating
Sideloading in the future
Though doesn't mean someone else won't produce
A software that deals with it
You can also uninstall by right clicking on the app in start menu
Some apps may not work in ADB -- though if you're an advanced ADB user
You may know a way to
Those apps are ones using xapk which contain an APK and an OBB file
Think in the end up I sideloaded apkpure to deal with it
Though was very late and was very tired so don't remember
Exactly what I did :cry::cry:

I had to create a new folder in there, simply named it Google Play, and put the play store and the games iver downloaded etc into it, I cant have a messy start menu with everything I was downloading.

Aside from games, I can't really see the main benefit of this when MS Your Phone streams the apps from your phone anyway?

Also just means another set of apps to keep up to date which feels like faff :p

Yeah ms your phone is pretty decent
Though only tested it with Samsung
There's a definite lag issue though which I only tested
With games that lag was a problem in IE games needing fast response
Didn't try large video's or stuff
Though not gotten around to fully exploring the capability
Of WSA yet to see everything it offers beyond ms your phone capabilities
But games are an obvious part since not everyone has a high end phone
So usually your PC will have a lot more grunt
Intend to look more at what WSA is capable of compared
To ms your phone
But since it's very first version of WSA it should improve
Certainly the difficulty of putting play store on there
Will put a lot of people off
Don't doubt someone will come out with a one click solution

Yeah for sure, they did with ADB as that was a faff to install on Windows but for a few years now you have a 15 second ABD installer which takes pretty much 15 seconds!

Yeah next time I have to do play store
Will be recording it as a macro for future use
As updating windows 11 preview may require redoing it or something
Though must admit I don't have enough knowledge
To turn that into something others could use
Do to different resolutions, screen sizes, position of stuff on screen etc
But there's plenty smarter people than me out there
Who will know

You will need to completely remove the other way, ie remove amazon app store and windows subsystem for android, delete the folders you created etc, and then follow the video to install windows subsystem for android, then just install whatever apk's you want through side loading.
ok
no problem will just load a previous macrium image
of before it was done
literally takes between 2 and 3 minutes to load the image

Another way which might be better if you dont want to change your region settings to the USA, ive uninstalled the other way I posted a few nights ago, set my region back to UK and tried this new method, much easier and quicker to set up, it took me all of 10 mins, and the games are working fine.

How to Sideload Android Apps in Windows 11 - YouTube

Bit late to the party but just trying to do this now, seem to be failing at the first hurdle of installing Windows Subsystem for Android with my region as UK. Do I need to set region to US, reboot, installed WSA then put region back to UK??

The method we used
May be outdated now even though was only
A few months ago
Last time I updated to latest version 11 preview
It broke my play store working
And made WSA glitchy too
So I actually imaged back to when it was working
So it may be you will need a newer method
Depending which version number windows 11 preview you have
