Windows 7 7068 First impressions

Couple of annoying things for me, any way to make them better?

1 - I'm browsing the web full screen and also talking to someone on MSN, the person on MSN sends a message while I have IE open, and instead of just clicking on their name on the task bar like you do in Vista, I have to hover over the MSN bit, then select the chat window. Yes it only takes a second or so longer, still annoying non the less.

Also, sometimes when I click "play all" within a music folder, WMP only pics up half the tracks and sometimes starts at random times, for example 54 seconds into track 9 instead of the start of track one.

Old news :p Welcome to Windows 7!

Ah, not like I've been using it for a few weeks... oh - I have!

Had this with my audigy 2 on bulid 7057, Works fine on build 7068 though, try some different drivers. Either from windows update or creative site

I can only find one set... seems to be fine now though, not had it again.

MC, re: MSN/WLM. When the app is closed, right click any shortcut to it (start menu, taskbar, or desktop etc) and go to Properties > Compatibility. Set it to run as compatible with Vista and hit Apply/OK. Voila. It will minimise to the systray and behave exactly the same way it did in Vista. :)

Cheers dude, that should help a lot.

Finally got time the last couple of days to have a good sort out and install w7. Never liked Vista so went straight back to xp, but so far 7 has been great with all my hardware, and just finding my way round it all now!

Awesome! thanks a lot for that the msn being there was really starting to annoy me! :D

Are people trying out IE8 with their new Windows 7 installation or are you staying with FF??

Have this issue where IE8 doens't remember my email and password for facebook which is beginning to grind me but it feels very snappy compared to FF I must say

Once you get into extensions Firefox is far too feature rich for me to consider going back to IE. If IE had extensions of the same calibre or Firefox had no extensions then I would probably switch.

Installing it now.

Still WAY slower then OS X is to install, I was up and running and installing apps in less than 15 mins now on the same HD, and the same system im at 20 mins and its still expanding files :/

I know its a beta but still, wasn't install times DROPPED!?

i was foolish enough just to "upgrade" .. i wish i just reinstalled woulda been far quicker..

"3hours later"

EDIT: Anyone know how to get shoot of that annoying water mark on the bottom right? The old reg trick didn't work for me?

I'd noticed some registry differences with 7068 and 7057. I don't know how to remove the watermark but I did notice that when I applied the Vista fix to remove the shortcut arrow on 7057 it worked fine, same fix on 7068 no longer worked.

Will keep looking :)

On another note why doesn't IE8 remember all my usernames and passwords? specifically facebook for starters?

May drop back to FF at this rate :(

If your getting sound distortion on creative cards just go into the sound setting's and change the sampling rate to 16 bit 96000 hz (studio quality)

It worked for me, im using 64bit build is 7000
