A friend has a brand new Sony Vaio laptop with windows 7 on it.
I connected to her router and got an ip address, but no internet access. I checked the IE connection settings and it was set to auto detect. I turned off the firewall and still nothing. I tried another laptop on the same router and it was fine. Tried her new laptop and still no access. I can ping local addresses and all ok, no result pinging google.co.uk.
She has another access point in the house (house has thick walls so 2 wireless boxes) I connect to that one and it works fine.
She has now come round to my house and tried to get access to the internet and the laptop is having the same problems as the first router. Connects to network but then no internet access. However differently to her first router it eventually it connects, but I notice that when I try and go to an internet site, eg google there is a lag before it eventually opens the page. I try the same site on my PC and it loads instantly.
Any ideas? I just cannot see why its not getting internet access even though it is connected to the router.
