Windows 7 final editions announced

Still the choice between Media Centre and Remote desktop, something used by me a lot... looks like ill be sticking to Home Premium as long as someone hacks RDC server into it again...

I dont understand why they dont just do a simple version, and a full version, like XP, it worked fine.

EDIT: hang on... they have taken all the networky server based stuff out of home editions, yet recently launched there new Home Server software.... which would mean you would want all the home servery stuff...

Its just a ploy to get people who want anything more than the basic to buy the Ultimate.
It isn't. They're going back to the XP choice, essentially. Home Premium is the same as Vista Home Premium. Professional includes everything Home Premium does, plus some network features (domain join, RDC host etc). Unlike Vista, it does *not* remove any features - i.e. it does include media center.

Ultimate only includes a few extra bits like Bitlocker Drive Encryption, Boot from VHD etc. Hence MS have said they don't expect to sell many versions of Ultimate. For your home user, there are really only two choices.

it isnt the same (home prem. for home prem.) if mobility center is removed. im still trying to find out how this will affect laptops.
If it included on Vista (I think) - hold 'Start' and press 'X'. On 7, it lets you see Volume, Battery, Wireless, External Display, Offline Folders and Presentation Settings all in one place. As Offline Folders and Presentation Settings aren't included in Home Premium, they probably thought it was a rather useless little utility - which it is. Fairly sure it's mostly useless even on Professional, as I've never used it on my laptop.
