Indeedwell, 8pm for us Brits.
DIT: Got X-Fi drivers working perfectly, for anything that has this just run the installer in Vista compatibility mode.
So did anyone get Win7 from MS yet? It was down for a while because of too many downloads, but it's back up now.
Only available for the first 2.5 million downloads.
Due to an enormous surge in demand, the download experience was not ideal so we listened and took the necessary steps to ensure a good experience. We have clearly heard that many of you want to check out the Windows 7 Beta and, as a result, we have decided remove the initial 2.5 million limit on the public beta for the next two weeks (thru January 24th). During that time you will have access to the beta even if the download number exceeds the 2.5 million unit limit.
Running Steam on windows 7, neither Half life 2 or Lost coast worked.
That sounds like the old 64bit mode issue with HL2 and Lost Coast..
If they are locking up on the loading screen with the 64mode active message in the top left...........you need to alter the command line in Steam for those games with "-32bit"..
It used to be just for those two titles as far as I remember... Episode 2 etc work no problem anyway..
Might be worth trying out..
Many thanks matey, works a treat now!
How are people finding it? Any compatibility options? Any noticeable performance change between Vista 64 and Windows 7 64?

On other news: How are people finding it? Any compatibility options? Any noticeable performance change between Vista 64 and Windows 7 64?
Tried installing it twice and gave up due to the problem with the 4gb Nvidia chipset memory core error. And that was the 64 bit version.
I am surprised to see that they have still not learned the basics from the old Vista install. I used to get fed up with taking out one stick of Ram to install an O/S especially when it supposed to work with it. I am certainly not getting inside my PC just to satisfy MS. If it doesn't work this time on install with my full compliment of RAM why should I bother. I may wait for Beta 2 and see how that sorts out the problem but even though I have written papers to MS on the elementary point they seem to have been ignored or bypassed.
I am certainly not buying a new Motherboard to satisfy MS.
Anyway, back later kids, my GTX 295 has arrived so i'm off for play![]()
