Anybody had any probs with the installers not working, im trying to install Steam after doing a reinstall of 7, but when i set it away, i keep getting something about the installer not working properly, and do i want to let MS know, yet i got it installed on here fine before.
and fails to install applications the other half :/
Did you try the fix that the Action Centre throws at you when an installer stops working? Fixed my machine so Office could install (haven't installed anything else yet, hardware issues with my DVD drive right now!).
An issue with the Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP) client in Windows 7 beta is causing Explorer and some MSI-based installers to stop working properly.
1) Click the Start button , click All Programs, and then click Accessories.
2) Right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. In the User Account Control window, verify that Program name is Windows Command Processor, and then click Yes.
3) In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type or paste the following text at the prompt:
reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions /va /f
4) Press Enter to install the solution.
5) If The operation completed successfully displays, close the Administrator: Command Prompt window to complete this procedure. If "ERROR: Access is denied" displays, repeat this procedure from the top, making sure you clicked Run as administrator in step two.
I dont know if its been posted already but here is a clean way to enable Windows Gadgets if you have UAC diabled: http://chris123nt.com/2009/01/19/fix-windows-7-sidebar-with-uac-off/ simply involves a quick reg edit. Worked fine for me straight away.

Incase people haven't seen the message but want to try it...
Hi MouseMat2004, may I ask why you have disabled User Account Control? Not that it bothers me personally, I'm just curious that's all.![]()
Program I use A1CTL on my Acer One that displays CPU temp and most importantly controls the fans doesnt work with UAC. I wouldnt had disabled it else.
I'm having several internet slow downs as well. Figured it might be with W7 tlaking to the mothership. Is there any way of disabling this? Not that I don't want to report errors, just so that I can get a normal experience on the net. I'll report errors manually.....I do find windows error reporting nicking loads of bandwith and killing the internet. Release/renew clears that.
