Windows 7 price due to go up?

I bought an extra copy from OcUK earlier today... then when back to check something and noticed the price had gone up lol! if I'd delayed even a few minutes it would have cost me a few quid lol.

MS seriously should keep the price for home premium retail at £50-60 tho - I know people who haven't purchased a copy of windows in their life - and been running windows a good many years ;) but have sprung for multiple copies of win7.

rather crap when ur stuck out in the middle of the north sea with no way to pay for it lol ah thats the main reason i missed out of the cheap pre orders months ago grrr

Exactly, my dads one of those people, he used pirate XP and VIsta but he got Win 7 at £44.99 because he said it was 'at a sensible price'. Ive no doubt that if it had come out at £150 he would have pirated it just like the others.

i've now got 72 copies @ £44, planning on selling @ £100 after christmas - 4 grand profit ;):D:)

OcUK have a lot of stock in our warehouse ready to ship with a second batch arriving when I ask for it. As for when the price goes up it's simple, we run out and that's it; you'll see this has been reflected in some e-tailers sell out prices already. Don't say you haven't been warned.

don't supose you can hold a copy for me i know am chancing my luck

Which version and when will you be ordering?

home prem and it will be on the 30th

Shouldn't have any issues for that date anyway. When I say we've got a lot, I really do mean we have got a lot.

So you ran out of stock already then? :p

must have took some work to get 72 copies since the stock was limited to 2 or 3 per order and only a handful of shops were taking preorders.

Well its certainly not going to go down in price, so really tempted to grab it now!!

The thing is I am eligible for the student offer at £30, although double the price this is more appealing to me as I dont not have to download it, burn the iso, install windows xp, then install windows 7. I have the cd, box and serial in one place. Also the grief of accessing my student email. Im settled on buying this. Will order tommorrow.

Why would you need to install XP? Downloaded Pro, installed, job done (from a 7600 Ultimate install).

I think even the new price of £72.99 isnt to bad for a retail version, particularly when compared to vista, which i totally skipped, got a 3 licence xp oem pack years ago, on the last of the 3 licences now as ill be going to win 7 in a few days time.

I'm more interested in if the oem gets the same increases as the retail versions?

I was going to get oem as it will only be on one pc as I'm more likely to add another pc to the collection than replace one :)

I wont be paying more than £60 for a copy If I cant get it for that I wont be getting it.

You all had plenty of time (months) to get it for £45 so there's no excuse for moaning now that the price has gone up especially since everyone knew the price would go up after release.

I might raffle my last spare copy of Home Premium only on the forums, what say you people? :D Will see if I get any bids first though, if none then....raffle (maybe).

At £50 to £70 it's worth the upgrade and I did. Any more than that and I'd have stuck with XP and Vista.
