Hi all, I have windows 7 x64 I have 4GB of ram and a Asus P5wDH, I have turned on memory remap in bios. Now windows and my bios both say 4096 available.
However even using max memory and the bios features its still hogging 1025mb odd for hardware and using it for my graphics card.

My Specs are:
E6600
Asus P5wDH deluxe
4gb Corsair ram
Nvidia GTX260 896mb

Is there anyway to stop windows using system memory for graphics as there is no need for it and not to mention really annoying seeing my computer say
4.00GB (3.00GB Usable) :p

Try enabling the memory remap feature in the BIOS to see if that fixes it.

edit -didn't read the OP properly ;) Was remap enabled when you installed the OS?

Click on the System Tab in DxDiag.. and whats the memory in there.. your in the Graphics tab..

Edit: It is recognising the 4GB.. the Resource monitor says.. Installed: 4096mb

another thread here just this afternoon showed the exact same issue. it looks like one of your DIMMs is faulty - try swappin' them around to see which one's buggered.

Are you sure that the memory being allocated is that being used by the graphics card ? As mine is as follows...

%3E

as you can see my 4GB of memory is showing a similar amount allocated to the graphics card and yet only 2mb reserved for the hardware.

The card has 512mb of its own memory installed.

Rams fine in vista and is showing the full amount in bios, however memory remap was not enabled when installing windows 7, will reinstall and see if that sorts it out. will update when done lads cheers.

Update: After changing something in bios to do with cpu speed, after restarting windows the memory issue is fixed I have my 4GB and hardware is no longer resolved. \0/
