Windows 7 SP1 RTM

Not sure what the big rush is to get SP1.

The part I've always loved reading from other forums from past Windows versions is when far too many are busy rushing making slipstream discs to then do a fresh install.

It's one thing doing a fresh install when you actually need it. It's another doing it just for the sake of a new version number and they go precioussssssss! ¬_¬

I went for SP1 as I'd only reinstalled the day before for my new SB rig, so it was no huge loss for me.

RemoteFX, AVX and some IPSec stuff seem to be the main 'features'. We all know they did a pretty good job on Windows 7 in the first place though, why "fix" what isn't broken?

I thought a couple of months back that Microsft had some sort of DX11 update (minor) in the works?

What has happened to this.... I have heared nothing since.

I dont mean DX11.1 etc... it was just a performance update for Dx11...

Can't wait for this. The dynamic memory feature they've added to Hyper V in 2008 R2 SP1 will be great and will allow us to get much more value out of each VM host.

Indeed, although I think I might give it a month or two before deploying and let others shake the bugs out of it first :)

Slipstreaming SP1 onto my 7 pro now, been nLiting XP discs all week and wondered if a tool existed for 7, RT7Lite =]

Saves so much time by adding custom settings and tweaks to the install.

I have read some websites that say microsoft might delay SP1 release to the internet until they are ready to officially release IE9 which is meant to be some time next month.

^handy tip on that link about freeing up disk space. i just saved 1.3gb on my windows 2008 r2 install. thanks. :)

Just did this on mine and it cleared about 1GB. Only took a couple of mins.

I did notice there is a clean up option within Disk Cleanup as well but don't know if it is as comprehensive.
