Windows 8.1 update

remember these updates are cumulative and contain all fixes and more since windows 8.1 was released last october. if your machine is already up to date, i'd expect the download through windows update to be much smaller.

25 Updates downloading, Mostly Office 2013 stuff, but the 887Mb update is there (strangly it was Optional!) 2.1Gb in total... :)

Does anyone else find these folders really annoying?

After every major update they come back and I have to go into the registry and delete them again. :(

This update puts a shutdown button right in the corner of the Start screen, boots to desktop automatically on predominantly non-touch devices, and gives mouse and keyboard users discoverable and familiar UI controls to manage their running programs.

These things have been complained about incessantly. Literally page after page, thread after thread of it. For years.

And suddenly it's an update not worth having?

The problem is it's an absolutely half way house to what they've shown at build, they've kind of hyped everyone up, for an update that has no ETA, yet they had an update rolling out within a week.

So everyone was expecting their start bar etc.

Frankly, I find the 8.1 update 1 somewhat pointless for myself.
