Windows 8 Consumer Preview Thread

Yes, if you let it run. It can either keep all your personal data intact - and that includes installed programmes leaving a windows.old folder for 7 (which cannot run of course) - or wipe the disk for a clean install.

I opted from the former and everything was very smooth and nothing lost. It will need a clean install of Windows 7 later but it may upgrade to thre full version fo Windows 8.

I'd love to put Windows 8 on my main PC, as my it's very stable on my brothers PC and my netbook, but Xonar Drivers aren't working properly on Windows 8 and I can't change from Speakers to Headphones etc, had to mess around with my brothers audio, setting up his 2.1 gaming chair and put his X540's on his consoles.

Has anyone found a way of changing the analogue out in Windows 8 on a Xonar?

I might be missing the point here, but is it possible to get it to display the 'Apps' screen rather than the 'Start' screen (with metro tiles) when you press the windows key?

I kinda see it would be quicker to search for apps, but at times it would just be a lot simpler to hit the windows key and just click to load an app.

Winkey + Q does that.

I can't get the Xonar control panel to work either.

Just having a play around with remote desktop... (really liking the app actually)

but what I really want to be able to do is to remote into the win 8 computer from my ipad, however all my rdp cllients so far seem to refuse to connect to win 8... (either they say host has closed the session, or just crash)

I know you can do it with splashtop but I'm looking for a windows rdp way to do it... so does anyone know of any apps that work?

cheers :)
