Windows 8 doesn't detect raid0

Hi there

I just installed Windows 8 today, after accidently formatting my C drive.

That didn't bother me too much as I have pretty much everything stored on my raid0 array. It is a software raid which I made within Windows 7. When I tried the consumer preview a while back it worked fine so I'm unsure as to why it doesn't work now.

Here is a screenshot of what Windows detects:

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks

RAID0 (soft or hard) with no backup = headache waiting to happen

Glad it's all sorted for now though :)

What method would you recommend for backing up? I was thinking RAID0+1

Would it be possible to have it setup so I have 2x 500gb in RAID0 and a 1tb for RAID01?

Thanks.

RAID0+1 is a little different from what I think you are suggesting (using the 1TB to backup the RAID0 array). It has it's pitfalls but I guess using a RAID0 array for boot drive and a single disk as backup in the home environment would be fine.

Using software RAID0 for a storage volume is a little questionable IMO. Do you need high throughput read/write for the stuff that is in the array?

Personally if it was important data, I'd use a RAID1 mirror with the two 500GB drives and get something like Dropbox/Google Drive to take care of your Documents and maybe photos, if you aren't a prolific photographer :D
