Windows 8 Easy To Use?

It's extremely easy to use (ask my not entirely PC literate fiancee). That said, if you have a Windows 7 licence to use, now you've missed the cheapest pricing it's arguable if it's worth moving. On mechanical drives, probably not. On an SSD, definitely.

Any Windows is easy to use its not rocket science ,not like the old DOS days where you had to learn a thing or two, nowadays its too easy but you still get people moaning etc...especially if a simple start button goes ;) .

Win8 pricing wise I think OcUK still have it for under 45 quid http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SW-150-MS&groupid=33&catid=1555 .

Btw I'm using Win8 as SSD cache drive on one PC and single mechanical drive on my Samsung laptop (even that was faster then what it came with ie my six months old Win7 preinstall).

Windows 8 once you get used to not having the start button and remember a few shortcuts its very simple. Windows key + W - quick and simple way to search for an app/file. Windows key + E brings up My Computer, stuff like that make's the experience much better.

Highly recommend.

Pretty simple to use, I just find it too tablet orientated, I'll probably skip this version for my desktop. It's on my laptop and I barely use it now as it's dual booted with Ubuntu. I've got Pokki installed so you can get the old Windows 7 desktop feel back.

I know, but I'm going to put my hard drive in my new PC, hopefully.

You could do this method if you put the HD on the new PC for a clean install,

1. Run the registry editor (regedit)
2. Find the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\OOBE
3. Change the value for 'MediaBootInstall' from 1 to 0
4. Open an elevated command prompt (run as admin)
5. Run the following command: slmgr -rearm
6. Reboot

Thanks for that Elevon.

I need to reinstall Windows 8 on a clean drive (new SSD) shortly and I remembered I had the same upgrade problem with windows 7 on a clean hdd.

That work around of resetting the install media will save me some headache.

Windows 8 isnt HARD to use but stay away from it. Its terrible compared to Windows 7 IMO. Completely based for tablets...
