Windows 8 issues after removing Ubuntu dual-boot

Hey guys,

I'm currently running into a number of issues with my bootloader for my Windows 8 installation.

I've recently removed Ubuntu from dual boot on my laptop and I'm now faced with dreaded GRUB load issues when my laptop boots up.

I've tried fixing the issues with a bunch of fixes I found on Google but to no avail.

I've got a win8 USB drive and am currently able to access the troubleshoot installation. Refresh and Reset aren't working because the drive where windows is installed is locked.

Still getting the:

error: no such partition.
grub rescue >

How can I backup my files if I can't boot into Windows?

Yeah volume 1 is C: which I made active.

Reinstalling windows has not fixed the issues I was having.
