Windows 8 release preview has been launched today

I bet W8 is a flop to businesses. Gosh, where I work were only moving to W7 never mind W8.

For us to move to W8 properly we will require to change around 6000 LCD's to touchscreen LCD's.

Windows 8 isn't for businesses, as you say yourself businesses are only just upgrading to Windows 7.

Windows 7 will be the new XP, it will be around for many years to come.

Actually, after a quick google, Windows 8 Enterprise edition is still using Metro. It just has extra features for corporate deployment.

Been using the Release Preview for a few days now, and have to say I really like it! I'm using it on a desktop and at first I didn't like Metro, but after a bit it's started to grow on me. There's a great Twitter app on the store and the People hub is good for Facebook. I also like how responsive and fast it is aswell as the new features like native ISO mounting, the new Task Manager and what they've done to Copy & Paste. I'm planning to move over to it when they release the RTM version, I suppose it's down to preference, but I can't think of a reason not to upgrade, sure Metro might not be for everyone but it is easy to switch to the desktop and there are bound to be hacks in the next few months to make Windows 8 automatically boot to the desktop :)

Which version of Windows are you coming from, Michael? I really didn't think it was worth the upgrade from Windows 7 - after all, reading .iso files is juts a small program.

I've been running Windows 7 for the last few years :) I remember pre-ordering my copy and getting it for like £50, so if a similar deal runs with Windows 8, I'll probably do that.

Yeah fair point, it isn't some groundbreaking new feature but a nice touch I guess. Overall yeah there isn't much difference in terms of new features between Windows 7 and 8, but if I can grab it for a nice preorder price I probably will, small improvements are better than no improvements :p

I've also got a Windows Phone (don't call me some biased fanboy! ;) ) and hoping what they do with Windows 8 and SmartGlass technology ties in nicely with it :D
