windows 8 start menu is back

I don't remember moans in the old DOS days but then you had to learn the OS and all the keyboard commands,no spoon feeding in those days.

tbh i couldn't see how people could moan about DOS back then because it was the very first MS OS so people didn't know any better.

Not really sure why you're bringing DOS in the discussion unless you're trying to imply using Metro on a desktop is as difficult as DOS was to use in which case I'd agree.

It's obvious, things are easy nowadays, back in DOS days learning curve was higher ,things got easier over years especially with Windows yet people still find something to moan about.

People are used to having instant access to data these days and having to navigate a tablet interface on the desktop when Windows 8 was first released made that process slower for the average user. These updates are only giving those users the option of which interface to use and I for one don't see a problem with MS offering them the choice.

Don't get me wrong I'm all for choice but it was not exactly hard before, especially if you bothered to customise Win8 desktop or Metro to your needs which Win8 does quite well.

How do you print a pdf in Win8 ?

Open up a pdf file, right click on the PDF page and you will see Print icon on bottom right.

Example here,

Just updated 8.1 with "8.1.1" update - bit of a non-event?

Mel

Well you get Store pinned to taskbar(I unpinned that) and power options on Metro start screen(top right corner).
Btw if you are looking for the Start menu to return that's down the road at some point.

I only use the start screen as a start menu replacement. My main beef was that it took you away from what you were working on in order to use it. The new start menu seems to have the best of both for me.

How long will it be before disgruntled Metrosexuals start demanding Stop8?

That launched with 8.1 to remove the new Start button, think it's called StartIsGone or something (reference to the StartIsBack addon).

Open it, then press Ctrl+P, same as any other version of Windows.

It makes it much easier to give to businesses like this.

To be honest for 99% of business users it's simply a choice between two different menus that they will never use, most business users only use a handful of programs all of which should be pinned to the taskbar.
