Windows defrag and ssd

My c drive (ssd) appears on my windows 7 disk defragmenter dialogue. But if I click on the scheduler it does not show up.

Do I need to do anything to ensure that the ssd is not defragmented?

I don't believe you are meant to defrag these things.

Make sure that there is nothing scheduled for defrag, or you could simply stop and disable the Disk Defragmenter service...

I hope the below image helps for your settings. This is how they appear on my setup, and how I believe they should appear.
My C: drive is my Intel SSD.
D and E: are WD 1TB green hard drives for data files. ( so ignore them settings, they're not SSD ), but still in the schedule ).
H: is my flash drive currently plugged in.
System reserved is part of my SSD, something to do with how windows installs and partitions.

If it's not set up roughly like this, it may be because windows is not detecting it as an SSD.

And on an added note... I have installed windows 7 recently and have not messed with any of the settings, these settings should be adjusted automatically by windows when it detects an SSD. All I have done to get the above screenshot is open it, and take it.

You may want to check as this is not a given, depending on the SSD. From my own experience and from reading what others have found, there is no optimisation carried out by Windows for the Intel drives. Defrag on, prefetch on, superfetch on, etc. Perhaps this issue is fixed with the latest firmware? I suspect the fault lies with Windows though. Haven't re-installed since I updated to 02HD so be good to hear from someone who has and if they noticed any tweaks being made by the OS?

There was optimisation for my intel SSD on windows 7 with latest firmware.

I installed with old firmware ; then updated and defrag, prefetch and superfetch were all off.

Good to know! Did you note the settings prior to the f/w update by any chance?

No I didn't sorry.

To see if it's because it's an older firmware just update the drive and see if it's still doing it then.

(won't have to reinstall windows).

Ah, just curious. Both my drives were updated after I made the relevant adjustments to Windows but good to know that's one little chore taken care of next time I re-install. Thanks for the info.
