Hi there, i happened to come across the part of the computer that tells you the windoes experience index and gives certain elements a score. Weird thing is though is that everything has a score of 7.8-7.9 though the hard drive comes out with a low score of 5.4.

Its a brand new rig built by ocuk and the primar drive is a SSD - OCZ Vertex2E Bigfoot 120gb and has loads of space left on it.

I had thought the score would be much higher than my last one which didnt have a ssd but its far lower. Is this something i should be worried about, meaning theres a problem somwehere?

Hi Jock,
Nice sig by the way. I love that logo.

Anyway, the windows experience index score is not an accurate measure of your hardware capabilities. There are a lot of flaws in it which mean,.. really, I just wouldn't bother worrying about it.

If you want to test the speed of your solid state drive, you can use a free tool called ASSSD, which you can find here:http://downloads.guru3d.com/AS-SSD-Benchmark-download-2569.html

You can then compare the results with what is said on the site for that particular drive, and the speed which it should read/write.

I hope this helps!

Mine gets 7.7, the only things I can think of is that you:

a) have done loads of benchmarking without letting the drive recover (leave your machine logged off overnight or something)
b) re-installed Windows without doing a secure erase first
c) aren't using AHCI
d) aren't using RST drivers with an Intel chipset

I would say at 5.4 something is not right. My 60GB gives a 7.6 and that's with a cloned install from a larger Samsung F3 HDD (which incidentally scored a 5.9!).

Havent done any benchmarking.
Havent reisntalled windows or nothing, its exactly as it was when ocuk shipped it as far as drivers and settings. Nothings been changed.

Just checked its, 5.9 not 5.4 though thats bad enough by the sounds of it.

How are your sata ports set up in the bios?? AHCI is preferred... although you would have to do some reg tweaking in W7 if you wanted to change to this, before you actually changed the setting in bios...

You should really secure erase it before installing Windows just in case but I doubt that would've changed anything. Maybe you're not using AHCI or the right drivers.

Would it make a difference if the computer has been rendering for the past 3 days solid. I wouldnt have thought so but you guys know more than me.

vertex 2 i`am getting 7.7.
