This is a retail version 64bit, never seen it till now!?

Anyone know why?

if your bothered you can delete those OEM pictures by the way. search for dell within the windows directory, should pick them up.

It's not my screenshot, so it doesn't bother me at all. But it seems a pretty sorry state of affairs if the OP does indeed have genuine windows and my friend with the Dell OEM doesn't have any problems at all with messages like the OP's and probably never will.

hey guys, sorry being late, well this is what happend after before i posted the above, i was running spybot and was making a registery backup, but I balls'd it up and restarted the machine and after back to desktop, most of my programs wouldnt work, nor would my updates install, so re-downloaded windows updates, installed, reset and that message is now gone! Don't exactly know how or why it came up with that but all aok now

I'm not gonna jump to any conclusions about you running a downloaded copy of Windows (cause, let's be honest, you wouldn't be posting the question here if you were doing that)... but Microsoft have a habit of wrongly accusing people of using pirated copies of Windows when they've really got legit copies installed.

So, in short, Microsoft's detection logic simply ain't as good as it should be.

This reminds me of the time I fixed a mate's laptop for him. Something made me google his XP key. We found it online. He claims to have bought it second hand from Dixons!:p

Was muchos funny that. Well for me, not him.

I suggest not bringing up discussions of how to pirate Windows unless you want to earn a suspension.

Burnsy

I wasn't telling him how to pirate Windows, but it's well known that people with the downloaded versions (i.e. the Dell OEM) aren't having any of these issues, unlike folks with real genuine versions. :)

I agree with you 100%, My 64 bit vista is always playing up, and I've had to call microsoft twice already for a new key. (yes I have the Genuine product)

They have been very helpful though, but I've seen others using that oem and have no problems at all.
