Windows software team scam

Why on earth you'd stay on the phone for longer than it takes to realise it's complete nonsense is beyond me, let alone for over an hour?

Jesus, you must be bored.

Isn't there some legal thing that says, once you request to be removed from their database they have to by law, and that if they call you again you can sue them?

(I could just be making this up, I'm not sure)

Good luck dealing with the the multiple international legal authorities to put that claim through. Damn it man, you are neither america, nor the RIAA! You can't just go pursuing call centres in india because they are nuisance, you don't have nearly enough financial backing.

Hah. Good old fair justice.

Kudos points for you. The longer you string them along the less chance they have of conning people. I'm amazed they don't give up sooner and move on.

Lol i had an Indian bloke phone me claiming to be from windows a few years a go when i lived in my old flat.He was saying there was a virus on my computer etc and that they needed details blah blah blah.

Thing is, the bloke never stopped talking for 10 minutes after i picked up the phone.I didn't even have enough time to chip in or tell him to pee off as that's what i usually do.
Anyway when he finally stopped and asked if the computer was still connected to the internet i told him i no longer had it as i had sold it few months back.

This is what he actually said

"Then why you ******* bloody wasting my bloody ******* time?"

I went off on one but he hung up midway through rant lol.

The best thing is the thick Indian accent and them saying, "Hello, my name is Brian Thompson from windows software support".

Oh, really? Hello, Brian! :p

I don't think I'd have the patience to string them along for any length of time. I get rid of cold calls, scam or not, as quick as I can.

To be fair, I was playing games and just making stuff up most of the time. It doesn't take much effort, and the slow response from divided concentration makes you sound stupid, which is what they want.

As above, I'd rather they wasted their time on me than on scamming some old dear.

I get them from time to time, say they shouldn't have access to my pc and that if they do it was not with my acknowledgement which is illegal. I then ask for their full name, the company they work for and a few other questions while mentioning the police and they quickly hang up.

I loved it when they say in their thick indian accent, "Hi, my name is David".

My neighbour had one of these calls. I walked in just as she was giving them her bank details. I luckily just managed to figure out what she was doing and got her to hang up the phone.
Took her ages to understand that Microsoft don't keep an eye on every windows pc just to make sure there virus free.
