Windows update causing looping issue

Hi all,

A couple of weeks ago I had a windows update (windows 11) and it failed. It was solved by doing a system restore. Unfortunately it tried to do the same update I think today or maybe a newer version of it and system restore won't solve it. I've tried every option from the uninstall which does nothing using command prompt and tried a reset keeping personal files but even then it still came back after a reset trying to do a windows repair which is always unsuccessful and just loops back into the windows recovery screen. My knowledge is limited when it comes to software and I just don't know what to do now. Is there anything else I can try?

Slight update. I tried another system restore. When it finishes the restore and reboots it instantly starts installing the new update and fails. I can't uninstall that update from the windows recovery same as before and says I have pending actions try running start up repair.
Is there any way I can stop that update going ahead when it reboots from the system restore?

Can you get into Safe Mode? Then

Download wushowhide.diagcab from Microsoft's site.
Run the tool and follow the on-screen prompts to scan for available updates.
Select the problematic update and choose Hide update to block it.

No I can't. It just goes straight to the windows recovery screen no matter which option I select. Safe mode with network, safe mode, low res. The lot unfortunately.

I'm assuming all I can do is a fresh install. I'm going to get a new nvme SSD and install it on that and hope I can access the other files etc from the other SSD. Unfortunately it will just have windows installed on it. Not sure how I can delete it when it's not my main drive. Like I say I'm not great at operating computers. Putting them together is much easier
