Windows Vista SP2 RTM is now on MSDN

With SP2 installd my 64bit Ultimate seems to load Apps from cold boot as if they were already in superfetched memory, Photoshop for example loads almost instantly, Firefox likewise.

Nice!

Fire Wizard, have you tried the RC yet? I reckon you'll love it :)

I have indeed used the Windows 7 Release Candidate. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice operating system and there are a couple of nice features. However, overall, I'm having a hard time telling the difference between Windows Vista and Windows 7.

I would suggest testing W7 on a backup machine, or at least running it virtually. I've always been a supporter of Vista, but W7 is smoother, slimmer, easier to navigate and has some great functions. UAC control and Aero Snap alone sold it to me.

When I was running Vista I always had that red cross in the taskbar because UAC was off. I never used UAC Tweak, feeling I shouldn't have to download a third party application to combat a standard Windows security function.

Just seen your edit. Fair enough, but why do you feel its overhyped? I haven't seen any hype anywhere, just forum users and webzines saying it's a really strong operating system.

So you are going to buy Win7 because it has better UAC and better Aero? It is overhyped just like Vista was, its in their interests to make sure it is. I'll be damned if im paying £100+ for Vista with a different skin.

All the rubbish in Vista Aero, search etc.... is all turned off as its all a load of unnecessary rubbish.

And if it wasnt for gaming i'd be putting Microsoft in the bin.

Well as a PC gamer I will get 7, WDDM 1.1, dx11, better gfx card RAM utilisation are some benefits alone.
