Where do you 'putting the heating on' guys live? I'm in Nottingham and it's been far too hot and humid to imagine it all day and night. September has been an ideal month temp wise for me here. I have started closing the window someway through the night to be fair and do wear a jumper when I take the dog out at 7am

Ours turned itself on on Saturday briefly when it just dropped a little colder inside, but other than that has been off all of today. That's in Durham.

Our house still seems to be holding 20c overnight, and warming up to about 22/3 during the day. Keeping the heating off as long as possible. It was the winter dog walking coat outside today though, theres been a cold wind blowing.

Last night was cold on the outskirts of London, Orpington area. 5 month old son was cold in his cot, ended up with mum and dad in bed. Tonight seems to be a little warmer but can see having to have the heating on for our little one this autumn, winter and early spring.

It's not where you live it's how old are you - When i was young I could take the cold but now being a OAP I feel the cold. :)

South Wales! :D

I also have a lot of house plants. It's getting to the point soon they won't like the temps.

Someone forgot to tell Autumn that it's actually Spring. But then grey will become blue and it'll be okay :)

That tado setup looks quite neat actually. Presumably just heating individual rooms saves you a fair bit in winter?
Lower load on the boiler can actually make it more inefficient. Most boilers are oversized and can’t modulate low enough and so cycle heavily, meaning a loss of efficiency.

The great thing about being on the otherside of the world is that when its winter in the UK its beautiful summer here in NZ and when its summer in the UK we can still claim we have better warmer days even though its winter!

Sounds awful but I'm picturing that if it was in the UK with how the humidity is here

The reason I love going to Saffrica for Christmas, instead of sitting all cosy indoors we're always in the garden, BBQ going, beer flowing, it's ace.

No :p but I have a 35kW boiler which can only modulate down to 7kW, and the heat loss of my house at -3C outside is barely 2kW so even at -3C by boiler is 3.5x larger than it needs to be :D
mines set at 2 of 7 .. 61c .. takes time to put in heat .. but thats what the log burners for .. gas is secondary .. so cheap .. :)

Pfft, Dunedin wants a word. We even got snow down there in winter.

North Islanders don't know they're born :p

hah if I wanted that I would have stayed in my home city of Manchester and not emigrated to Auckland! But yes, the humidity is a killer here... 13 years on and still haven't adapated.

Ha, true.

I know what you mean, I was only up that way for a short while staying with friends who lived in Whangamata at the time - humidity is the worst.
