only 5c in London this morning but house electricity is out and so we have no heating, turns out the gas combi-boiler needs electricity to work. turns out everything needs electricity to work

Condensation on the windows this morning with internal humidity at 50%, will look again at a PIV to see if it helps.
Nothing wrong with 50%.
It's cold outside and warm inside your bound to get some moisture on the window as long as it's not dripping off the window.
I run a dehumidifier and still had about 5mm of moisture along the bottom of the bedroom window it's 48% in there, and about 10mm in the kitchen, where it's 37% this morning.

I had around 35mm on the bottom and 10mm up the sides of most windows upstairs. Window vac and kitchen towel and it was forming again by the time I finished. Opened them all for 10 minutes and down to 42% humidity now. Dehumidifier on most days to keep the levels down but it's a bit undersized really.

After a few days? You need to move country TBH. We are in Winter in the UK, what temperatures did you expect at this time of year?

Not just a few days, a single day. I’d expect average temperatures, not -5.

It’s not winter either so my post should’ve been “**** off cold weather”

My previous one was undersized as well but the new Arete is great I like how I can set the humidity as well set to 45% the bedrooms average around 48%

It costs in electric but it's so far kept everywhere feeling warmer so not as much heating.

The Arete is the one I'm looking at now, should bite the bullet and get it as it seems to be running out of stock most places.

If this is bedroom windows with people sleeping in them then this is completely normal.... The human body puts out almost 1 Litre of moisture over 8 hours per person so a bedroom with 2 people sleeping will put out 2l of water overnight.

Sadly it's all windows upstairs. My OH does tend to steam up the car windows by breathing which are normally fine when I'm on my own, so I blame her for the house windows too :D

Still trying to get the gf to think about this.
I'm gonna have to get pushy on it after Christmas. Because I need to sort many things and even reskill to maximise job chances potentially

11c at work (manufacturing). It hasn’t even started getting cold yet at this place! It normally hits about 9c.

Rules are that if it’s under 13c everyone goes home but management haven’t said anything yet.

Wunderground forecasting sleet early on Thursday morning in Southampton, Met Office says it will be dry, both agree the "feels like" temp will be sub zero until at least lunchtime.

You can walk out, but won't get paid. We did it once on a nightshift when we found all the gas heaters were empty.
After they lost 12 hours production management certainly made sure that never happened again... :D
