More snow last night but the temps go up from monday so doubt it'll be around much longer :(

Can you imagine what state the UK would be in if we had snow like Poland.
If we invest in the snow clearing vehicles and other things that countries have constant heavy snow during their winters. It won't snow for 10 years. Then a Daily Fail will take a photo of these shiny brand new, never used vehicles in a council depot with headlines "What a waste of money"

It's people that can't cope with snow generally. Not having a food store cupboard. I have plenty of food in to last 5-6 weeks. Though I run out of fruit, veg and milk. Have a couple cartons of long life milk. If that runs out, I have fruit tea bags, cappuccino sachets and alcohol! Plus if things get desperate, you don't have to eat the traditional things for breakfast - some food is better than no food.

We've got actually quite bad problems with flooding around where I am currently - hasn't really affected me other than making some of my drives "interesting" but we've had 3 instances in the last 2 weeks and one instance a few weeks before that, where several staff have been unable to get to work for 1-2 days. ( Some of it covered here https://www.facebook.com/travelsomerset ).

Monday when I was getting into work one of my colleagues had just returned from an aborted drive home and had to leave their car at work and have a friend take them home in a "proper" Land Rover.

Worst I encountered the fields either side of the road were 2 feet under water and it was across the road enough the only ground not under water was the crown of the road to the width of a vehicle.

How much food do you have? :D

I can still remember the old days when it did snow in UK - Snow clearence was simple -all fit people on dole had to go to the local council yard and they were taken out on a tipper and had to fill it with snow -it was soon cleared.

Those good days have gone now so they can stay in and claim more money.

My mind is now fuzzy so that's what I think happened then.

I can remember that too though it was the lads on the youth training schemes that did it over here usually.

I spent the last week in Gisborough, and despite being aware of the fact that the weather is generally a bit more grim oop norf, I wasn't prepared for the actual difference. It was generally 10deg colder, I think I had one day out of the 6 with no rain, it's darker a LOT earlier and generally a lot more miserable.

No thanks, I'll stick to my cheerful stabbings in South England!
