Winter Transfer window 24/25

Was obvious really, Trent was always going to be the least likely to renew his contract, I think his mind was made up months and months ago. Thankfully he is also the easiest one of the 3 to replace. He'll win a lot at Real, probably more than he would if he remained at Liverpool to be fair, good luck to him.

Trent's been gone since the end of last season. You don't get down to the last year of your deal at his age and given his role within the side by accident or if you're actively looking to renew. Leaving on a free will always be seen as doing the dirty on your club, particularly as a home grown player, and it'll be held against him by a section on our supporters and he won't be as highly regarded as he should have been.

Not really a shock is it, been know for months he was never renewing. Outrageous player going forward, just glad we don't have to ignore his defensive frailties anymore . As Tomb said above, probably he's the 'easist' of the 3 to replace with a traditional rb - just have to hope Bradley csn get over these little niggles he picks up (fingers crossed its just age related). Certainly going to be an interesting summer that's for sure.

While he might be the easiest to replace, it will still be incredibly hard to replace him. Bradley might go on to become an outstanding RB but Trent is more than just a RB to us. He's also our playmaker and has been pivotal to the success we've had over the past 6 years. Bradley (or any other RB) won't be able to replace what Trent brings to the side and we'll have to look to replace those qualities in other positions.

His role already changed this season when compared to previous, he's been far more of a traditional rb.
His physical position on the pitch has no relevance to the point I was making. No other fullback comes close to having the impact he does on the ball, whether he's in a RB position or drifting infield (which he still does if not as often) - in fact very few attacking/creative players have the same impact on their sides as Trent does for us. He's as good a passer as anybody around and we've relied on that for years. You won't be able to sign another fullback that will be pinging cross field passes out to the left winger or hitting ridiculously difficult 40+ yard passes into 5 yards of space for Salah with the ease and regularity as Trent does. Whether previous seasons or this season, Trent's numbers in terms of attacking, creative, long passes etc far exceed that of any other fullback.

No one said we would be signing a trent replacement?

Important part of our recent history but unfortunately how he’s handled it leaves him in the same company as others who weren’t/aren’t thought overly well of

Slips behind many of the Klopp era greats with this which is hard to believe as a local

What on earth was the point of your initial reply then? I pointed out that we'd not be able to replace everything Trent brings to the side with an other RB, to which you replied that he's plays more as a traditional RB this season.

I dont feel that Bradley will be the "replacement", I think Bradley will still be the backup for a while yet, I actually think that the Frimpong gossip has a lot of traction and I'm expecting Frimpong to be the replacement (though a different sort of RB to Trent of course)

I agree, we'll be signing another RB not least because Bradley's got more than a patchy injury record. I suspect we'll have to tweak other areas of the side in addition though or we'll struggle to be as creative as we currently are. I wouldn't be shocked if we revisit the number 6 role despite how well Gravenberch has done (I can see him performing equally as well in the Mac Allister position too), bringing somebody in that's more of a sitter and passer.

We may even look at Szobo's role as our 10 (especially if Salah doesn't renew) also and try to get more creativity there to offset what we'll lose from Trent. Salah's future probably impacts that more though as if he's staying then you need Szobo's energy and defensive work more than you need a creator in that position when Salah is on the right.

You took umbridge with the suggestion that he'd be then easist to replace by going with a more traditional rb, then started sperging on about the things he does. Hint, we know that which is why the replacement is a traditional rb. Slots already tweaked his role this season compared to the previous couple under klopp, which agains points to going for someone inline with what hes used to. Just doing your usual and arging a point no one has made.

Yup, I agree with that on both the 6 and 10, I foresee there being quite a bit of comings and goings this summer. I believe that next season will be much more of a transitional season and tbh I dont think we will be in the title race next season as it will be more of a change of personnel/bedding in season next year and I'm fine with that as its needed in order to move into the next "era" for the club

No, I said he was the easiest to replace however would still be incredibly difficult to replace what he offers the side and that to replace him we would have to do more than just sign a RB. It wasn't arguing against a point somebody has made, it was expanding on a discussion. Maybe if you could read and comprehend then things would be easier.

Surely if you want to start a discussion about how the team will evolve post Trent then drop it in the Liverpool thread rather than this one
