Wired Mouse stutter - Windows 11

Hi guys,

I've suffered from mouse stutter before, that turned out to be a mouse on its way out but now it's back again and I'm not sure what's causing it... Basically, if I move the mouse cursor, it will stutter at a consistent interval.

Two wired mice, plugged into the same USB 2.0 port directly to my motherboard (maybe I should try them on a 3.0 port - seems a waste though), 1 basically new and the other one 2/3 years old. A Steelseries and a Razer, none of the vendor software running on startup.

I'm convinced it's a process or something but not sure where to start.

Any ideas?

Try running LatencyMon

See if it points to anything specific.

As an aside I've been having a nightmare with my PC this week and as part of it moved from Win10 to a fresh Win11 install.
And from the off the Win11 install wasn't right, audio issues, mouse feeling like it was 'catching' all the time.
Stress test/benchmarks all ran fine, though scores a little low and noticable stuttering.
But desktop use was horrid.

Too long to go into it all but after trying so many different things I dropped my memory multiplier down one and the issues went away.

Probably not going to be your issue and I'm now worried my CPU is on it's way out but might be worth a look/test.

Is your BIOS up to date? Why not try another port? Even as part of your troubleshooting process.
Yep, bios updated, all Windows stuff and drivers etc. I've been testing this morning on a different port, a USB 3.0 one and the issue 'appears' to have gone away... for now anyway, I'm still going to keep my eye on it :D

Thanks, definitively going to check that app out later!

Nope. Stutter's still there

Have you anything new since/before this started? First suspect of hitches would be RGB software or wireless devices.
Literally have everything disabled from startup, bar OneDrive - which I kind of need.

I disabled iCUE/Synapse/GG, the last time I got stutter... I'm going to try Safe Mode later, see if it's still there then.

Screen refresh rate? I sometimes notice this when I’m accidentally at 4k 30Hz or something as I use an old HDMI cable etc.

Another good shout! My resolution is 2k on a 3060 ti and I use a very good quality UGreen display port cable. I'm sure the refresh rate is 144Hz - going to have to check it out now :D

My monitor's refresh rate is 165Hz to be fair - I don't think its that :D

So frustrating - it's not doing the stutter thing now...

Sounds like a mental question this, but are you using a pcie riser cable/vertical mount for your gfx card? If you are, try taking it out of the equation and put your card horizontal for a test. I had something very similar and crazily it turned out to be that!

Ha, there are no mental questions at this stage :D But no, my gpu is straight into the board.

I had this for awhile, closing dell desktop manager and logitech apps seemed to make it go away.

it wasn't stutter really the mouse just seemed to have extra input lag or something, like I move the mouse all the way across the screen, I stop moving but the mouse took time to catch up, only by a fraction of a second but it was weird as hell, also mouse cursor didn't move properly smooth like it was ghosting.
I think I disabled all the dell and logitech services to fix it
