D-Link AirPlus G DWL-G510 Wireless PCI Adapter

Just bought one of the above. Installed it with Vista x64 drivers & followed the on screen manual.

http://www.dlink.com.au/tech/Download/download.aspx?product=DWL-G510&revision=REV_C&filetype=Drivers

Now my laptop is connected to my Belkin Router and my dads PC is via ethernet. But my vista x64 says unidentified network & cant connect to the net. Ive pressed repair but ot no joy. It said turn off my router for 10 secs etc. which i did and still no luck.

Ive uninstalled drivers etc and then re installed my network card.

Appreciate some help dudes.

Cheers.

so you entered the SSID and and password (i presume it has WEP or WPA enabled?) i would try using the Zero Wireless config instead of the D-link software.

im not usin DLINK software as it doesnt work with Vista x64. Im using windows own as the tutorial/manual said. WEP is all fine etc. I turn off wirless security but still nothing.

Cant think what the problem is. I know it works on Vista x64 as there are drivers for it and other people use it on x64.

hmmm...

cheers for the reply though dude.

Any other suggestions.

Is Mac Address filtering enabled on the router, Is Wirless B/G enabled on the router to allow both 11g and 54g.

You tried hard resetting the router then simply trying to connect to the routers admin page only?

Have you tried connecting the ethernet cable on YOUR computer?

Check that the wireless card has a Windows Firewall network profile set against it.

Control Panel
Network and sharing centre
You should see your wireless NIC here

I suspect that your connection will be named as "Router SSID (Unkown Netowork)"

Click "customize" to the right of this

select "Private"

Hope this helps

Hi

This one's a long shot, but I'm just wondering if IPv6 has anything to do with it? In the screen print you posted, in the Wireless Network Connection Status, it says IPv6 Connectivity: Limited.

I am wondering if IPv6 could be interfering???

If you go into Manage wireless networks on Vista, you can find a menu item entitles Adapter properties. You can then see the Wireless Network Connection Properties of your wireless adapter. Mine has a checkbox for "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)". I am just wondering if unchecking this might help??? I really don't know though, just a suggestion.
