Hi all,

I've got a problem with my wireless network in that when im gaming my connection keeps lagging for a few secs or dropping out completely. This happens pretty much every 2-3 minutes.

My router is a belkin F5D7230v4 and i have a belkin wireless pci card....both are 54g. I also have Virgin 10mb cable for my connection.

We have just moved house where i used to use Virgin 4mb but i was wired to my router there and it was spot on, here though we have laminate flooring down and it is nigh on impossible to hard wire to the router now.

Any suggestions anyone?

ethernet ove the mains circuits, very handy for resolving some wifi problems (unless of course your wiring or other applicances are compeltely awful or a strange number of electric meters)

If you can plug in 3 adaptesrs and 2 cables then whomeplug should work.

I've used the belkin router and it was fine, the belkin pci card I had poor sentivity and transmission. On balance more likley to be the card than the router

I've tried changing the channel the other night, i'll give it a whirl and see if it helps later.

On another note, when i first connect and i hover over my wireless icon in my systray it says im connected at around the 24mbps mark....i noticed the other night that the longer im connected the lower it gets until it gets to around the 1mbps mark and then freezes.

Coincidence or just crappy wifi gear?

wireless is just constant problems for some homes, and mine is definitely one of them. I can't seem to get a decent signal in my house at all, so I've done away with wireless and I am using homeplug.

just get a linksys WRT54GL and whack tomato firmware on it

although for gaming, i suggest using a cable, can't beat it
