Hi
Ok this is the scenario:
Trying to hook up my D-Link DI-624 with a ADSL modem that's currently running a PPPoA connection to my ISP (fine). Going through the DI-624 WAN config page and there's no setting for PPPoA just PPPoE?!?!? Picked up the router cheap from eBay and comes with an American p.adapter (+ step down convereter). Is there any setting i can put the router or modem to work together and happily share the net wirelessly?

EDIT- W.Router worked fine with ntl cable modem set-up where i use to live b4 :-D

That particular router doesn't have an ADSL modem it - it is a cable modem router with an ethernet WAN port.

You'll either need an ethernet ADSL modem or a different router.

You should be able to ignore the login fucntions on the router.

If you cant get it to work the way you want then at the very worst you could connect the modem to the LAN side of the router to get the benefits of the wireless and wired hub.

You should only consider this if you cannot get PPPoE working on the WAN port. nealy all ISPs support a single PPPoE connection as well as PPPoA so you shouldn't have any problems.

How do you go about this?

Which won't work, because the modem will pass the single public IP through, and only one machine will be able to connect.

the adsl modem has DHCP mode. And also this under ATM settings:
  • PPPoE
  • PPPoA
  • RFC 2684 Bridged (Pure Bridge)
  • RFC 2684 Bridged (Static IP)
  • RFC 2684 Bridged (DHCP)
  • RFC 2684 Route (IPoA)

RFC 2684 Bridged (Pure Bridge) first and use PPPoE settings on the d-link.

Should work if not, we can try last resort of using the router as an access point & hub with DHCP on the modem thats not just a modem ;) and none on the d-link.

Hardest bit usually its keeping track of the IP & subnets needed during the set up of 2 bits of kit.

Just got an e-mail from D-Link Support and, quote 'please note that this router does not support PPPoA connection and will not function over the same.'
so much for that :(
