LOL, im just simply trying to accomplish something, and my goal is to recreate a police vehicle. I love customising vehicles

Others like to go over the top (you may think im going OTT) but really whos going to watch TV under the car, on the steering wheel, on the rear view mirror etc (just some of the things on pimp my ride and also on car shows ive seen)

If you like customising and working with vehicles, your goal is trying to recreate something which no one has never thought of (even though it doesnt make sense sometimes, and things may not be practicle). Mine is to try and recreate a police vehicle.

I'm pointing out the obvious here, but you do realise that driving a vehicle on the roads that "could" be construed as a Police vehicle because of its visual warning devices, when it plainly isn't, is illegal, very much so?.

I imagine that he does, being a copper himself.

Unless it's Oracle again.

I'm guessing so, seeing as he is apparently a member of our fine constabulary.

EDIT:: Damn you Nozzer :p

Obviously you aware that you can't even give the vehicle Battenburg (sp?) markings as their use is restricted to the emergency services?

Fair enough, but whether the OP is a serving police officer or not, its still illegal to drive a privately owned vehicle on the roads with these type of visual warning devices fitted and being used, even if you have a warrant card in your wallet.

If its for off road use, fine.

I've been a member of the emergency services for just over 17 years, for the record.

If you read prev posts ive stated that there are custom graphics available and options are also there to have magnetic signage. And there are companies out there who are able to provide battenberg signage for usage as a show car.

i never have the intention of driving a fully marked police NSX

Its not illegal to kit a vehicle out with police equipment, it only has to be used in an inappropriate way for it to be considered illegal. strobes, and other internal lighting cant be seem by anyone anyway unless switched on. the lightbar can easily be removed, but as i stated you can get light bars these days which have a clear lense, and look like a normal white light (like seem on landrovers etc) but when you switch it on you see a blue light.

I compleatly agree, Nice to hear from another officer.

But i think its an argument about what the users intentions were with the equipment, and it comes down to that. those lights might just be innocent for a showcar.

Another toughy subject is undercar lighting (neons) whether there legal or not. if lighting is allowed under your car or not. which is a grey area in the law, the last time i checked, your opinions?

Grey area? What the hell are you talking about, they are totally legal. As long as the light source itself isn't visable you are fine. Not forgetting of course that you are only allowed to display certain colours in certain directions on the car (white to the front, etc)

A police liveried NSX has already been produced (a few times):

Would make an interesting project but I think the NSX should be improved upon in other areas and then used as it was intended :).
