I went under yesterday (general anesthetic) to get 2 wisdom teeth taken out, the left ones.

Whilst you might be thinking "why not local?", the top was rotten and barely any left on the cap and the bottom was growing downwards below the gum.

So a bit more than pulling them out was involved.

Anyway, I had no side effects or issues with the general anesthetic and was out of the hospital almost immediately. I have not taken any painkillers at all and don't wish too.

I am eating soup, but my god it's not enough! I'm so hungry!!

I have to be careful as I have over 6 stitches, the ones that dissolve so can't eat anything 'rough'.

Any suggestions on food that will actually fill me up but is soft?

Oh, as for the rotten wisdom tooth, I blame bad dental health and smoking.

Both of which I'm on top of now, but really wish I never took up smoking and brushed at least twice a day. Not just in the morning. Also, almost a year without smoke!

You're lucky. When I came out of hospital I couldn't eat solids for two days and was on painkillers for a week.

More soup?

Or just get a blender and start blending everything.

Make a steak milkshake, protein galore !

When I had my compacted wisdom out, I found bread dunked in water was pretty filling.

Pretty much do this with the soup. This is pretty much what i did after i had one wisdom tooth out I was alright though looked a right fool eating with my head massively tilted :p

I've only ever had one removed and it came out whole and left a nice cavern where it used to sit.
Apart from the dribbling like a numpty as the anaesthetic wore off, I ate as normal?
Rice was interesting though as the grains kept disappearing into the hole. That was probably my worst mistake! :o

I had 3 out about 15 years ago with no hassle and just a local. However my remaining wisdom tooth is on the way out and the last time I was at the dentist he tried and failed to remove it. He said I'm ok for the short term but
I will need some sort of surgery in the near future to remove it. Not looking forward to that ! :(

Odd seeing different reactions. I'm only avoiding sharp things because of the stiches.

Will try blending tonight.

I'm thinking a bacon and egg smoothy lol.

Had one out a few years ago and didn't feel worse than any other tooth getting pulled, took quite a while for the hole to heal up though.

I've had wisdom teeth out before. The first few days were fine and I wondered what the fuss was about. Then, for another day or two, the was pain worse than before I had the teeth out.

I lived on soups, bread and soft pasta dishes when I had mine out.

Nothing small that will get in the holes though!

Feel for you mate, its not fun but now its all healed up I wish I had them taken out years ago.

I really can't remember what I ate when I had my top and bottom on the left taken out, It didn't hurt much at all though. I do remember getting out of bed right after coming around and the nurse telling me I had to get back on the bed because I was wobbly on my feet :D

Surgically removed ones are different. There tends to be stitches. I've only had one out under local. The dental surgeon had to crack the tooth apart to get it out. Not pleasant and painful (even with anaesthetic) but left a big hole.

The others may have to come out but that will be general. Not down to bad dental hygiene neither. They just grow at a funny angle. :(
