Witcher 3 - Late to the party question...

The characters and story are great, love the dialogue. Really funny in places, BUT the loot/weapon system is pointless, as is the equipment wearing out/needing repairs. I'm still only between the first two large areas, and I don't even bother to collect stuff now.

The equipment should have the special effects built in, and when you repair them it should level them up. Making it well worth collecting different ones, and using them.

Once you get your first special sets of equipment, anything you find is now obsolete.

Yeah that was one gripe I had. No loot is better than quest or special set equipment really. It would have been nice to find the odd rare drop that offers something different.

Agreed. The system would have probably been better without Witcher gear. All game long I am just using the cat school gear and upgrading that. Anything else I find I sell as it is not as good.

Thread necro :)

About to fire this up for the first time (it's been in my stack of shame for years!).

Anything critical I should know going in?

[Edit] One specific question - should I use DX11 or DX12? Interwebs suggests that DX12 is a buggy mess, but I would like to give RT a whirl... playing at 3440x1440 on a 6900 XT.

I do not think you will be able to get 60fps with RT enabled at that resolution with that GPU, I can only get 60 in 1440p with DLSS balanced (with 3080Ti).

I would suggest removing question marks from the map and enabling alternative movement in the menus.

And get immersed, talk to everyone you can, do the quest, play some gwent..enjoy the ride.

There's a game outside of Gwent? Well I never.
