With EVGA gone, who are the next best option?

To be fair to the guy I referenced above, he was getting absolute pelters on here from a load of people due to their hardware going downhill, yet always remained polite and helpful. Looking back, poor guy was probably overwhelmed with it all.
It was frustrating for me as I had some issues with Gigabyte hardware in the past could not get my motherboard replaced plagued with a cold boot issue then a few years later this gigabyte rep pushing though people's gpu RMA's that could've been bought as spares or repairs as a few said they had no proof of purchase.

The only caveat I'd make about that, is with warranty shenanigans you can end up being offered much less than you'd think.

For example: they say after 3 years: "well, you have had 3 years of use, so you can have a 60% refund" and if you purchased a 4090 for £1500, that is £900, which with the slow pace of progress doesn't necessarily get you a suitable replacement.

In the 90s, 2000s and early 2010s this was not an issue at all, but in 2024? Yeah, it can be.

This thread had a happy resolution in the end, but worth knowing:
This is normal practice at certain retailers. The manufacturer warranty will get you a replacement, very unlikely they offer a refund, partial or otherwise.

AFAIK it's one of the reasons to buy from ocuk and not the other place, if you want to deal with the retailer rather than manufacturer come warranty time.

Zotac with 5 year warranty would be my choice. Anything with 2 year warranty or less should not be considered as cards do fail. My Zotac 4090 failed as did my 1080TI FE which is two of the last three cards I've had. Without a warranty I'd have lost £2600, fortunately both were still in warranty (The Zotac still had 3.5 years left) but the 1080TI FE had only 3 months left so I could easily have missed out. I did go through OC UK though and they were brilliant. I know that sounds like I work for customer service but I don't. I was just genuinely impressed with how they handled it.

Its a crying shame they (EVGA) are out of the fray. Wonderful video cards
I still have one of their 1080TI's. Box and everything, its pristine (and in a system in fact)

My current card is an EVGA 2070. Really itching for an upgrade, but will be sad to let the EVGA go. Quite clearly built to a higher standard than most.

5080 will probably be my next card. May go Asus and just hope nothing goes wrong...

longer warranty worth nothing when after 14 months they only offer you 75% of the card value if it breaks as was seen in a recent post about zotac warranty

I was a hardcore EVGA fan but I've now gone Gigabyte 4080 areo oc as the rma is uk based and they give a four year warranty when you register the card, so far the card has been flawless for me.

I'm curious. Is this based on you taking it apart and maintaining it or just holding it?
It's based on the fact these cards have zero sag whatsoever and run just as cool as aftermarket cards in a well ventilated case. I've had loads of supposedly good quality AIB cards and some of them were pretty well made, but none of them had the weight of the FE cards. Weight alone suggests good build quality.

Based on that, obviously others may disagree.

Which card is this specifically?

I have a 3080FE and it usually runs around 60-70% fan and I can't hear it over the game sound
4090 fe, fans start at 30% but as it ramps up they get loud, especially compared to the aib cards ive always bought previously that i could have running at 60%+ before the noise got distracting.

i should just get cable extenders and move my pc away cause im easily annoyed by fans :P
