With such a high failure rate on Swift...

So reading through the forums for the swift displays am kinda glad I didn't steal money and grab one. I went for the AOC 1080P one and I've not heard a bad thing about it to this date, I take it is just bad panels over at asus rather than G syncs tech itself??

Any thoughts? Or am I going to run into these issues later on.

Firstly, I would imagine describing it as "high failure rate" is a quite an exaggeration.

Also I Doubt it's related to the Gsync module.

Been wondering the same thing myself having read the Swift thread a bit. Really hoping the source for these faults doesn't lie in the g-sync units themselves.

You got your G2460PG yet, mate? Happy with it if so?

I'm not convinced that the problem isn't within the gsync unit though hard to know for sure so far. (It might be specific to the gsync units in the swift as well as I've not seen reports of flickering at low framerates from other monitors with gsync like you get on the swift).

Not sure about high failure rate either but its a bit concerning that all the failures are of the same nature presenting in the same way.

Sorry, I guess I went a tad over the top with "high" Although the amount of people on the forum reporting the same issue very close to each other is very worrying. My screen comes 2mro and I hope that it's problem free and nothing to do with the G sync units but we shall see. At least I feel AOC might be easier in terms of RMA though I wouldn't know at this moment as no one has seem to be suffering issues with it.

Yeah, but to be fair, hardly anyone seems to have one! :)

Cool. Hope you like it!

Yea, I really really wanted the swift myself but the price of those units are waaay past what am willing to pay for a 1440p.

Am very happy with my asus 1080p gaming screens at the moment and even though 1440p would be nice I'll just up the AA on my new screen 2mro and just be as happy :P

My main problem with the price is the feeling like your paying quite a bit of markup for the ROG branding alone - I managed to get one for a good bit under current prices through work which finally got me to pull the trigger.

Yep, I do agree. If it was a fair bit cheaper I'd take the dive and grab it but yea the price and now the issues. It's no longer for me.

OK, so I've seen 3 people with serious issues, I'd guess a couple of thousand have been sold at least.

It is expensive but nothing comes close to it, Asus are money grabbing turds so until it has serious competition then that's not going to change anytime soon.

Not just on here either, plenty people on oc.net, hardforum are having the exact same issue popping up after 3-4 weeks. I don't want to poop on the Swift but for 600 odd I wouldn't want to be seeing inversion issues on a TN panel in 2014.

I'm still going to buy one :(

What matters more to me is how Asus handle it if there is a common fault - end of the day **** happens but it can be mitigated with a proper response.

It's still only a small percentage with faults, look at every monitor thread and you will see the same, funny that half the moans seem to be from people who claim to not even want it.

That is the one significant downside, Asus support does indeed suck but I'm hoping that because its a big invesrment and a product that should last, the the retailers do the right thing and exchange quickly.

Either way, this could have been posted in the actual existing thread

I wouldnt post this in swifts thread as its about thr 1080p g sync AOC not really the swift as I was worried it was the G sSync unit inside causing issues not ASUS's panels

Remember that the SWIFT uses a heavily overclocked panel (made by AUO) and overclocked G-SYNC module running beyond the initial capabilities. I'm personally not surprised to see this sort of failure rate, but also agree it's difficult to gauge the true picture when people who are satisfied with theirs or don't have issues simply don't post as readily as those that do.

exactly :)

anyone not being from asus higherups and talking about failure rate on anything asus, is just making an ass out of themselves. you have ZERO idea how many have been sold around the world, you have no statistical data.

you only gauge your opinion on a low number of vocal minority on a couple of forums (i.e. OCUK, [H]ardForum, OCN, etc.)

you simply cannot base your opinion off of that, it's misleading other people, to say the least.

for example, i rarely post about my screen, yet i have had ZERO problems with it since i bought it a month or 2 ago. the screen runs for several hours EACH day and 10+ hours on weekends. ZERO problems, except for the green inversion artifacts, which are not specific to this screen but to TN panels in general.

so yeah, mine is ok, does that mean that all are ok? of course it doesn't, but it also doesn't mean that the failure rate is "SUCH HIGH".
