WOAH!

Nat King Cole and Otis Redding have never had UK a number 1 and Michael Jackson was a white woman.

Nat King Cole had a solo number one single in 1952, Otis Reading a number one album in 1968.

Mark Morrison wasn't even the first black male solo artist to reach number one in the 1990's as the wiki article you obviously referenced suggests.

Even if we accept MJ was a white woman....

:p

The singles chart didn't start till. November 1952.

Nat King Cole still had a UK number one, it was simply worked out on sheet music sales before it changed in 1952. And besides, it still doesn't mean that Mark Morrison was the first black male solo artist to reach No1 in the UK (singles chart or otherwise)...

Nat's number doesn't count as UK chart history didn't start til after that and I was talking about singles, not albums.

Care to tell us who was then?

I gave a list of black solo artists who had UK number ones in the UK before Mark Morrison during the 1990s. Michael Jackson was at number one several times before Mark Morrison, so was Shaggy, Coolio had a number one prior to him, Pato Banton and Prince also had number ones in the 1990's prior to Mark Morrison.

Did he not mean the first UK black solo artist and not any black artist to reach No. 1?

I cba to google the answer, I'll leave it to Castiel to fact check. :p

That isn't what he said and neither does the wiki page....in any case Mark Morrison was born in Germany to Barbadian Parents and spent much of his time living in the US. Pato Banton on the other hand was born in Birmingham and Seal in London, the latter being the solo vocalist on producer Adamski's killer.
