Woman sues council for pothole damage to illegal e scooter.

I read some woman is sueing her council due to hitting a pothole on her illegal scooter and damaging it and herself.

Not sure if she will get anything.

Probably won't but it's not out of the question, IANAL so maybe the council has been negligent re: the road. Just because the scooter is illegal doesn't mean she can't have a claim, there can be a risk of liability even with say burglars if they've injured themselves, less so if they've done something stupid themselves and fallen or there is a really obvious barbed wire fence perhaps with warning signs etc.. but potentially dodgy for the home owner if they've installed some broken glass without warning or hidden some nails the other side of their fence etc. that the person was there illegally isn't necessarily going to cover you 100%.

What are your views on these devices? Really handy for popping down the shops? Or a bane of human existence and a menace on the roads to cars and pedestrians alike? Mostly they are not legal unless you have a certain type but I haven't looked too closely into it as I have no plans to get one.

I think they're dangerous on roads but they do seem useful, new roads ought to have bike lanes and these things should be legal in bike lanes and in parks, maybe along canals etc.. it would be good to nip to the shops in them but I guess most roads don't have bike lanes.

I'm kind of 50/50 really because IMO you're inevitably going to get even more of them on roads if you make them legal.

pro tip tyres constantly leak air
What's your point. At no point are tires designed to run at max psi. That is asking for trouble.

You should visually check them prior to every ride and routinely check pressure approx weekly though. Although more modern cars as example have a setting for low pressure when it drops by about 10% or 3-4psi.

When mountain biking I generally check ever half day if riding at somewhere like whistler or the alps, local tracks more like every ride out so daily or at the weekends.

For scooter with smaller wheels the effect of lower pressure/under inflation is greater than a s of 29" mountain bike wheels.

I was capable of many things when I was 15. Doesn't mean I was mature or responsible enough to actual do them.

She has been riding to school and back since she was in year 7/12 years old in a busy town. A bike can nearly go the speed as a Moped so I do not see the issue. I would say she is more safer as she would be in a full face helmet and more visible to other road users than she is on her bike.

The point I am trying to make that if younger teenagers were offered a legal way to transport themselves about these stupid e scooters wouldn't really exist. Plus at least they would be educated a little bit more with a motorbike.

Is there an eScooter that could actually get you up Penkhull Bank on motor alone?
I used to use that for Marathon training :)

Earlier this year a bloke stopped me to talk about my eBike and then pointed to his eScooter.
After a few questions he said 'Look it up on Google so you know I'm not lying' and it could do 96mph
He said he'd hit that speed going on the A50 to Meir and going under the tunnel.
Being Mr Responsible I just said 'Hit something wrong and you're dead, especially with no helmet'.

The fastest in the world goes 82mph, maybe he meant km? Regardless, those ones are obviously a bit silly unless you're in full motorbike gear.

One of the critical care doctors told me the Xiaomi Mi Scooter 3 should be able to make it up Penkhull bank and/or Chamberlain Ave.
