This is probably a silly thing to talk about, but was just watching Nicola Sturgeon on the BBC news and she's wearing lipstick and eye makeup and whatever else women put on. Unless a woman is trying to attract a man or a woman, what is the point? i'm sure she'd look fine with no makeup.

The same point as people dressing nicely, brushing their hair or anything else appearance related I would imagine? What an odd thread.

Why would you think she would only wear makeup in order to attract a mate?

Wearing makeup is not just to attract men [or women], at its root it's about confidence-improvement. It's to make you look better and to feel stronger about yourself, to enhance certain features, to conceal imperfections or to promote a certain image.

Let me let you in on a little secret: a lot of the men on TV are wearing makeup too.

Yeah, not quite the same. Studio makeup is one thing, but there's no eyelashes, mascara and lipstick on most men. Good try though. :D

The things you’ve listed could be surmised with one word. Attractive.
