Woolwich serious incident

What would have happened if this was to happen in America? I'm pretty sure a ARV wouldn't of been necessary, a bystander would have taken them out well before the law could have acted.

At least let soldiers and law enforcement carry guns here... Why on earth aren't the police allowed firearms? It's pathetic.

It sounds like you've been watching Fox News and are regurgitating their talking points.

If guns were readily available the soldier would have been shot and passers-by could have been hit by a stray bullet.

An armed bystander wouldn't have saved the guy from getting run over and then while everybody thought those guys were trying to help him there would have been a window for them to stab him to bits, which there was...sometimes you get bad luck and there's nowt you can do.

I do think that soldiers who are here back from where ever they were should be patrolling our streets with concealables, we don't have enough police.

lol if guns were available they would drive up to him say "excuse me are you a soldier?" then shoot him 10x point blank.. how on earth.. seriously. Arming every human on the planet doesn't stop random violence.

Didn't they have a gun? If so they could have done that anyway, however it would not have made as much of a spectacle as beheading him in public.

Did they actually behead him or was that just the initial media reports?

As I thought I read an account from the woman who went to attend to him and she said he was stabbed and hacked, but no signs of an attempted beheading.

edit: on googling, I can't seem to find that account again. But I did find another embellishment, of attempted disemboweling too!

Yes the US system is surely an great example to be following, they have no problems with high murder rates and gun crime at all.

Look at the Empire State shooting, bystanders were hit by the police officers rounds, I can't see the untrained public letting off a few rounds on the street being a good idea.

It isn't pathetic. There is no operational need to routinely arm the police.

And what if those 2 had just popped into the local supermarket and picked up some military grade weaponry and a few thousand rounds?

First thing I thought too.

This.

I certainly do not want the police armed. They're a liability enough as it is, without introducing lethal options into the equation.

(Not a criticism of all police, just the contingent that do the name wrong. Also, police need no formal qualifications to apply for the job, and I don't want such people with the power to take a life. The IPCC isn't great, but its mandatory review of all acts of force by police (I read somewhere that a cop has to write a report if they even bring their stick out?) helps keep things to a minimum).

Snoopers charter how will that stop crazed religious idiots?
We are all losing or freedoms for what to try and stop some idiots!

No religion for under 18: unless in privacy own home, no religion on TV/radio

Within a generation or will be finished

Crisis? I’m off to Ibiza

DAVID Cameron flew to Ibiza for a holiday yesterday.

So what? What could he do here that he can't do by e-mail and phone? Since there's always a crisis of some type, are you suggesting the PM can never have a holiday? He may be ****, but I prefer him to be a relaxed one.

Tell us how they are a liability.
