Well I sold the ST24 last night so I had some money to buy either a MX5 or MR2. I found two very good candidates but nothing came of it, then I came across another MR2 that got added on Auto Trader on Friday.

It's a real minter, unfortunately an import but nevermind. I checked out the reg on DVLA and the date of registration was 1993, I thought it would have been the date it got imported?

Anyway it's the GT T-bar, 70k, FSH, leather etc etc.

Cheap price too.

I'm happy, been wanting an MR2 for ages after the Pulsar. Will update this thread wiht pictures tonight. :)

Well go on, how much? :D

I'd love an MR2 I could stretch to afford one they won't exactly break the bank, but my insurance would cripple me at the minute. I need a granny mobile and need to accrue some NCB.

Japanese GT is the fully loaded turbo. GT-S is the stripped down turbo version (although the options were available as just that - options). G-limited is the NA.

let me guess, december 1993? thats usually the date it was "declared manufactured" - this is so you get the correct numberplate put on

Hey,

Got back to late last night to take pics, was going to put a piccy up from the advert but it's been removed already.

The car is the none Turbo, and the date of registration was 23/06/2006. Has had all MOT's since it was imported and a very big history.

The bodywork is mint condition, can hardly find a stone chip or anything, alloys are great condition too and are the original spec. Only "mod" as it were are the repeaters which I'm going to change for clear one's, as well as the indicators. Leather is nice and clean too, all electrics work, think the A/C needs regassing, but not bothered with that as I have the T-Bar :)

Mechanically it seems sound too, putting it in for a service soon as it's due one, was last serviced on 64k, but over a year ago.

Haven't really had chance to have a good play in it due to the time I picked it up and having my girlfriend follow me home.

Also can't TAX it yet due not having a insurance certificate (you need one of these don't you to TAX it?)

Decided against the Turbo version purely for the MPG purposes and insurance, I bought my ST24 for "practical issues" and to save on fuel and insurance, the insurance on the MR2 is tiny bit cheaper than the ST24 and I guess the MPG won't be too bad either.

Sorry for waffling! Will update this with piccys tonight...

Sounds good

The import models do tend to be in better nick on average - my housemate has just bought a current gen import Celica as the UK models weren't in great nick

You can tax the car with your cover note, which you'll receive before your actual insurance certificate :)

The indicators had been changed so couldn't tell. They had clear LED one's on.

On RAC it says the below:

Manufacturer TOYOTA
Model MR2 GT
Body type SPORTS
Colour BLUE
Fuel type PETROL
Date manufactured 31 December 1993
Number of previous owners 3
Last owner change 21 February 2003

Woa - you drove it on the roads untaxed.

A few years ago I wouldn't of worried, but are you sure you didn't go throgh any ANPR cameras. They are everywhere around me. I made sure I had my bike taxed before I took it anywhere (it was SORN).

Well it was on the A1 all the way and it wasn't far form where I lived, i wouldn't of risked it being in the daytime and over 40 miles away. It was however, 30 miles odd away and it was very dark. I had appropriate the reciept for the car, log book reciept, everything if the Police pulled me over. I guessed it was a risk if there were camera's about etc.

i'd get it checked out, the GT in japan is the turbocharged one.

I had the same thing with the celica, mine's a GT4 but the V5 said GT!
