Fair play to the guy for selling it, although like others here I'll probably stop playing once the NYT take it over (or at least as soon as adverts start appearing on the page etc.)

So this game is lingo right? It is one small round of 5 letter lingo. On a webpage, with one word a day.

How is this worth anything?

Kudos to the guy, and I like that it doesn't demand much more than a few minutes of my day...
But is it worth anything really?

What it does have is a massive player base and traffic to the site. I'd imagine that's what you're paying for as it's definitely not the game itself, as it's been done many times before and can't exactly be copyrighted.

Once they start charging for (which they've hinted at) watch that player base disappear.
 
Yeah got it it in 2 as well. My standard first word got me three of the letters and ruled out most of the vowel placements so went for the first thing that er… slipped into my mind.
