There might be 500 solutions but it will accept any guess that's in the dictionary and there's no reason why it shouldn't.

This is my understanding too and why I don't like using "obscure" words as a guess. Because they can be accepted as a valid word but have low probability of being one of the "approved" words that could actually be the answer.
