Hi guys,

I currently pay a company to host and maintain my website seperate from my email which is below. ( I cannot get the website host to do my email )

I have one main business email address i use.

I currently pay for hosting to 123-reg to get my emails, they come to my PC via outlook and my mobile via a email app.

The problem is none of them are synced so what i send from my mobile stays from my mobile, and on my pc stays on my pc. I get more and more junk email now and while outlook is good, it ends up in my inbox on my mobile etc.

My 123-reg hosting is due to end early January and I wish to do something better. Does exchange offer a sync? I assume the emails sent to my pc are downloaded to the pc.

Please help me, whats the best solution

Cheers
Ross

Yeah, I think we've said hello before in other threads. :)

You wouldn't have a server with 123-Reg. I'm talking about you using IMAP or POP3 to access their email servers that you would get access to as a customer of theirs. :)

Exchange is pretty good but might be overkill, like Google Apps, if its just you. Just getting a simple email address on a domain and accessing it via IMAP might be enough for you.

Its a long story why and how but Its cheaper to buy web hosting from them than it is email. And the web hosting is that much and comes with email.

Only one and that's me. I do have info@ sales@ etc but not hugely fussed for them

Granted it might be deemed a little overkill but personally if you want solid Microsoft Exchange based email hosting then look at Microsoft Exchange Online plans (essentially the Exchange email part of Office 365 packages, minus the Microsoft Office bits) - cheapest option is £2.50 (ex VAT) a month, 50GB mailbox.

Your domain name is likely to be with 123-reg so you'll still need to keep the (bi)annual subscription.
And setup of Office 365/Exchange Online isn't quite plug 'n' play as it does involved changing DNS settings (via 123-reg's control panel) but it isn't particularly difficult if you follow the instructions/guides plus there's plenty of folk around here who will no doubt be happy to lend a handy or talk you through it.

Why not simply sign up for a gmail account and use your e-mail address in the reply to address etc then point your mail server to forward all e-mail to your gmail account, means you never miss anything and if at a later date you want to ditch gmail you can.

All devices will be in sync, get a decent amount of storage and very good server uptime.

Biggest benefit for me though is that if I want to change from gmail to something else I can without faffing about with anything. Just change the address on the forwarder to forward to the new account and change the replyto address.
